Wheel offset and Track width questions

That isn't accurate. Get better track width numbers and you'll answer your own question. The rears are narrower than the fronts by about 2 1/4". You can visually see it on a factory S10 4X4.

    Why no twin scrolls?

There’s very little happening in the SyTy community in the way of groundbreaking performance builds. Those who are pushing the envelope and using BW twin scroll turbos in the Buick world are building mostly 7 and 8 second street cars. There’s literally nobody here doing that. A handful of...

    Comp ratios

Yeah supposedly according to the article in GMHTP, Ed was running 11.5:1 but that was on a Bowtie with a Solid Roller Cam tuned specifically for 118 octane gas. Not a real relevant data point though for real life. His solid roller was also super secret squirrel so you don't know what his...

    Comp ratios

Is this a Bowtie build or a stock block build? If he's working on the heads you might want to circle back and confirm the compression ratio before he does something like deck the heads. Just shoot for 9:1 unless you're planning on something exotic.

    Comp ratios

Compression ratio alone isn't everything - overall cylinder pressure is a factor of compression ratio, your cam, and finally boost. Your fueling then becomes a balance of that overall cylinder pressure and octane. Factory compression ratio is 8.35:1. A more peppy compression ratio is 9:1 or...

Stumped w/ stubborn turbo lag issue

While low boost can be a theoretical failure mode it's very rarely the case without other symptoms (smoke, noise, etc). Exhaust manifold leaks? Intake manifold leaks? Do you have a wideband O2, what sort of numbers are you seeing? Whats the cat situation? With nothing obvious on the table...

Totally agree, and I know a guy that used to run a forum much larger than this one that would help.

    Bowtie block wanted

Depends where you're at. Somebody had listed one in Utah (?) a few months ago. EDIT: Found it. http://www.syty.net/forums/forum/marketplace/members-marketplace/parts-for-sale/1859074-ut-899-virgin-bow-tie-block

    Tachometer recalibration information

Use 100k+50k resistors and a 100k potentiometer to find out exactly, but I suspect it's 200k. Unless you're talking about an LS1 - in which case it seems most people just change the LS1 ecu output to output for a V6 tach instead.

Need some help with my FAST

It's a thought - but I can't see how the signal being messed up would show different MPH when the ground is impacted by different things being plugged into the cigarette lighter. I'm thinking more like poor ground circuit is gaining voltage +1V +2V, etc which is modifying the readout because...

    Steering parts replacement (GT#482)

The 4WD STrucks have the ball joint on the pitman arm instead of the center link, the 2WD STrucks have the ball joint on the center link instead of the pitman arm. The pitman arm on a 2WD STruck isn't something that needs to be replaced since there's nothing on it to wear out. If you've got...

Need some help with my FAST

I wouldn't call it a coincidence - there was a significant amount of re-wiring that went on to install the FAST and there's a good chance that something got messed up or missed in that rewiring. The speedo only has three inputs. There's a Ground. (Let's check that first) There's a 5V...

Need some help with my FAST

Your Speedo ground comes from a black cable that goes through the C100 connector that goes to the front drivers side intake bolt. It's shared with all the other things you mentioned. Location is C2 in the C100 Connector. I'd start with making sure that's there. Is this a Classic FAST or an...

Are you saying that the Speedometer is reading 30/20/10 or are you saying that the Speedometer is reading correctly but the FAST is reading 30/20/10?
