Hot, sticky weather at Bowling Green? Naaaaaawww.

It was trying to remind you why you need an intercooler. 10 psi and cooled boost should be a pretty effortless 10.x.

Yep, and that was our conclusion the lack of intercooler was really hurting me. IAT were 150's which for non intercooled I felt was not that bad but could be a lot better.

So now my problem is where do I put the tank for the water/ice. In the back is one thought and gives me good access to it, but the hoses will be rather long runs.

Under the drivers side, between frame and cladding with access door through floor is another thought.

Engine bay is rather full, don't really want to stuff any more in there. Anybody got any ideas?

Looking at adding the solenoids also so I can turn up the boost. hmmm did I just say that....grrrr

Looking good Jeff.

It's amazing how much room there is under the dash, behind the glovebox once you pull out the A/C stuff (not an option for you)....you could almost hide an IC core up there 8)

Re: Project Never Ends

Overall a good day. Jeffs still got some work though. I think he should put #1 on his list to check EVERY SINGLE NUT AND BOLT!!!! We found a couple other nuts that were loose, and considering his previous run in with a curb I would've thought he'd have checked them by now :D :D

He forgot to mention that he forgets he has trailer attached during first 10 minutes of towing everytime he is behind the wheel. Drug trailer through grass at beech bend, and then on expressway on the way home. Goofy bastage!

Overall though the truck did good. Few bugs here and there to work out, but he's got all season so long as he doesn't dig into any large projects!

Use plastic (PEX) tube, run it inside the frame rails. Then short chunks of braided from the frame to the IC.

Put a couple of bulkhead fittings through the floor right behind the passenger seat. Put some quick couplers on short hose chunks so you can take the cooler box out. (and loop the hose over for bypass) Could also rig it to route through a big fanned oil cooler between the frame rails when you're not racing.

If you wat to be sneaky, you can run the bulkheads behind the plastic panels in the back, then have a removable panel to gain access. All that you would see are attach points of where your cooler box goes.

I'm trying to figure out how to do this with the Sy, but I don't want to drill holes in the bed.

*EDIT* - Another idea: Joe had a fuel-cell like thing mounted behind the driver's rear wheel.

PS - what ads file did you use to log the data with?

I already have 2 holes in back panel drilled for old speaker wires when I had the amp in the tailgate. They will be perfect place to bring hose up. I like the idea of making system changable with cooler for street.

Debating on for homecoming doing the cheap method with clear tube, clamps and a simple ice cooler from wally world. Changing them out later if it works, and as I get time/money.

I probably used the latest BETA ads file when we were doing testing. That file might not be useful for anybody but just a few of us with the testing ads. OOOPS.

I tried it with the beta... no dice.

If you use the cheapie cooler, make sure the hoses are such that they don't suck air.
I had a heck of a time with my first setup, in that all of the fluid got sucked out of the upper ic and dumped in the cooler. A sealed system (ie, pipe or heat exchangers in the cooler) worked better, prevented air from getting in the system via the cooler.

Hit some Rummage sales/Estate Auctions. You can sometimes find good steel coolers cheap.

Hydraulic quick couplers work great, and they seal themselves as the make/break. Downside is that they're a bit heavy.

*Edit* Another thing (And this may be obvious), but when you run in race mode with the ice, you *must* bypass the fan/heat exchanger. Otherwise, you're just air-conditioning the underside of the truck.

Dry ice works fantastic, but it ain't cheap, and you have gas pressure/venting issues to worry about. It will freeze a glycol blend, if you don't keep the fluid moving. I've seen 30-40 degree MATs on a 75 degree day with the stuff, though.

Coolant mass is your friend, in a liquid system. Downside is that it's adding weight...

Re: Project Never Ends

I will look when I get back to my laptop. Paul emailed it to me I think, has the TREF and spoolup mode flags in there, as well as the extra map stuff. Chip itself though is a V18.

Re: Project Never Ends

Just thinking here I have a roll bar, AC parts, inner fender wheels, and water tank for IC left to add.

This is going to get heavier.

Jeremy did just call and tell me he might have a 5 gallon fuel cell laying around.

Try this XDF/ADS file to view the log.

Might I humbly suggest stepping back from the donuts? :p

Otherwise, you'll have to start drilling holes in the frame, and such...

It ain't so bad. When I weighed my truck, I was 230 lbs --250 now-- and my truck weighed 3850 with me in it. Working a/c, power steering, power brakes, stock front suspension and a 1/2 tank of gas. :)

Re: Project Never Ends

Easier to add boost, then to knock off my personal weight. Plug I threw Jeremy in the truck and it didn't go any faster... :)

You would have to be real serious about wanting them. They are a lot of work and money.
