Re: GMHTP Supercar/Truck Shootout
Whats up peeps, just got settled in here. As mentioned earlier by Morgan, it rained early on over there. It rained on and off through the day. It felt like I wiped the Ty down at least 5 times. There was a pretty decent amount of cars/trucks on hand. A few models like the Impala SS and such were no shows but none-the-less some nice cars.
Some noteworthy vehicles included the Z06, a primo GNX, 2 turbo TA's, a ZR1, A Calloway, and a few Firehawks and WS6's.
Once the racing started it got fun
Joe's freak truck ran 13.8's off the bat with tires breaking loose, Eric chased the 14 mark all day, and Steve was getting used to the boost down the 1/4 for the first time in his life (I think he's hooked now)
I must say we had a very good representation there. All of us wore our NASTE shirts, stuck together and really put on a strong show. We were all family there.
Most of the vette guys seemed very unfamiliar tracking their cars except for the Z06 who just put balls to the wall and punched it. We were posting better numbers than the Calloway and ZR1 all day (go figure). And a few others you could tell didn't want to get into it.Theres lots of pics to come...
As for my times, here goes...keep in mind this was the first time my Ty was brought to the track:
1st run: 13.926 @ 96.18mph
2nd run: 14.005 @ 97.07
3rd run and best: 13.455 @ 99.41 with a 1.869 60'
The last run I managed to hold the line and get a Joe Keller type launch and bark the wheels
I'm sure I missed some details, but the others will chime in...
