Re: Why didn't you come to Nats?

Finances and waiting on parts that have been back ordered for three+ months now.

FWIW dept,

I didnt mind the chitown nats other than the lack of parking for tow vehicles/trailers and the track seemed ok to me even though the locals seem to think its a hole in the wall (come to my part of VA and youll think GLD is high class, trust me). GB was nice in the fact that we pretty much had the run of the town/track but yeesh it was out in BFE and the bugs about ate me as everyone else alive. My truck breaking at GB wasnt anyones fault so even though I had to have it trailered back to VA I still had a good time at least what part of it I remember :D .

Ive never been to KC so Im kinda looking forward to going at some point to check it out so I cant comment other than if its a little less distance than GB from VA, which it looks to be, the drive isnt too bad IMO. Im an iron ass so driving 20hrs+ just for gas stops doesnt bother me but I can understand that other ppl cant stare out a windshield for that long without a break/sleep. Mrs myclone is one of those not to mention she has a bladder the size of a grain of rice which makes for extended drive time due to rest stops and she has had enough of riding after about 15hrs (she was ready to claw my eyes out not long after we crossed the NC border coming back from chitown!!).

Anyways, IMO have it where ever you want but if it gets any further west than KS, chitown or similar then it gets to be way more than my budget can swallow just for gas.

Thats no excuse.....I did both!

All you guys with broken trucks....come anyways! Hitch a ride with somebody else in the area!

CAMSTY and SeattleSy#1255....fly! Thats what Renz and Smaug did!

If i'm going to enjoy nats then its going to be with my sy there, which would be the entire reason i'd go, at least for me.

how many PNW guys do you see there? Not many, i'm not the only one in the courntry that feels this way. I understand you can't please everyone, i guess i just don't get why there it can't move around a bit. I'd drive to flordia, if I new the one the following year would be in our area, and mix it up etc. But its cool, i'm not mad, just answering the question of the thread. ;)

I'll make it someday, but for someone that wants to bring there truck and has to drive this distance once a year to participate, its not likely many will...hence not many of us PNW guys go.

Broken output in the trans...haven't had the time to get it fixed. Hopefully next week it will be back together. Spending to much of my free time building my other one.
The problem for any dates sent for Nat's is timing for the faster trucks. We break more often and take longer to rebuild... it's all about timing. Wish we knew ahead of time when we were going to break. I have no problem going to KS for the Nats. Road trips are great... Sounds like everyone had a good time.

Distance,

Wasn't there a talk of haveing 2 nats(east and west) or maybe east one year and west the next? Thought I heard that somewhere before....or maybe just my :2cents:

Have you ever been to the Nats? You really need to try it. Yes, its cooler to have your truck there but i bet if you flew out next year and just hung out with everybody you would have a great time. Im not a big fan of driving 600 miles either. We all wish it was closer but i cant understand why people like Morgan, Mike, Keith, Denny, Aaron, Bob, Dennis, and others can make the 1200 mile trip from the east coast and nobody west of Denver can drive that far. It has been in KC almost every year so it would be fair to everybody. If you look at a map of the US and point to the middle of it you come pretty close to KC.

Oh yeah...if you fly out next year ill buy you your first beer.

cuase i'm sure you are always racing against 40+ trucks at your local faster track

If i'm going to go to a track, I'm going to be trying to beat my previous times. I don't want to go to a track labled 'slow' by people that have been to nats. I don't care if i'm racing against some 14 second trucks.

Some people, like me, would only go to nats for the track event.

Joe Keller is 100% right and I know that Joe is never right about anything! J/K..... I live 5 hours south and didn't bring my truck but had an awesome time and maybe half of that was just because Renz was there  Fly out w/Kurt next year  Sy, Ty, or just me and my daily driver, I'm gonna be there again next year just because of all the different type cool people you meet
