Happened while I was sleeping last evening (10/6 or 10/7).

1992 Typhoon

VIN: 1GDCT18Z2N0810147

Black/Black

2000 Camaro SS wheels (silver painted)

Got Boost? sticker on back hatch

GMC Motorsports sticker lower right

More pictures found on my website below.

Keep an eye out for me. If I find who took it, there's going to be some hell to pay.

That really stinks man....
I know that folks will be kepping thier eyes open.

Get on Sportmachines.com and register it as stolen.

I hope the police in your area are worth a squat....

Good luck.

That sucks. Seems several times a year I am reminded how much I hate car thieves.

What anti-theft devices did you have? Everyone should have them and I don't mean gay car alarms. If you had none then I am not suprised.

There are several NO buck easy things that can be done to make it a slower more difficult process to steal a SyTy.
I won't post them here. Everyone who has a SyTy should never let it out of your sight if all the thief has to do is break a window and defeat the ignition lock.

I know of no truck stolen that had a Ultimate in SEC mode.

Sucks to hear. Seems that fall is the time for trucks going bye bye.

I wish you luck - been through it myself - and I didn't like it.

If you need anything to help you through this try what I did.

So what is your poison if your Ty comes back looking like that stripped black one?

Why do people have to steal the delicate/fragile machines. can't they take the ol beater out for a joy ride? chances are they're going to get BLOWN away driving a syty and will end up wrecking it or being pulled over.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I hope they recover it for you in good shape and the pinhead that did it goes to jail for a LONG TIME.

I will keep a lookout along with the rest of 'em for parts of suspicious nature popping up in ads on ebay.

I currently don't have much to protect mine, but this is a grim reminder to get off my ass and do the stuff I've been planning on doing to it(to protect it). I think LoJak is on the priority list so that it can be tracked down even if they do manage to get it out of my hands.

Sorry to get off topic, but there is a guy on Miata.net that is putting a 4.3L out of a van into a Miata... A StTy motor though??? That just wouldn't seem right.

If anybody sees a black/black, truck has 5% tint all the way around,2" blocks in the back, clear corners and turn signals, the weatherstripping on the top edge of the windshield is wavy. The passenger side fender cladding has a piece about the size of a fingernail broken, and a little crease in the fender.Truck is also undercoated. That's all I can think of.Good luck Tom.

Thanks for the sentiments, guys

Thanks for the sentiments, guys

I can only hope that it gets found in one piece. I haven't heard a peep from the law enforcement yet about it.

What I fear the most is that it is one of our own.....somebody who either is or has been a part of this group that needed a donor vehicle for the parts.

If that is the case, then I'll feel worse than I do right now, because another of the rare vehicles of this world has been taken apart and sold in separate pieces.

I do think that I was "cased out" and whoever took my Ty was following me. There was no broken glass and they did not start the truck. I know this because it was backed up to my garage and less than 20 feet from my bedroom window, so I would have heard it start due to the ATR exhaust. They probably pushed it out of my drive and down and out of the neighborhood before starting it.

I'm also wondering something.......how come Aaron hasn't posted here? Being a previous owner of the Ty, I figured he'd have seen this post by now.

If somebody does part it,I know how to bust them for sure. That passenger side fender cladding is VERY unique.Right on the corner where it meets the top of the front bumper is a chunk missing, and ALL of the tabs have been broken off and glued back on with epoxy.

BTW I didn't steal it :-?

edit:

The more I think about your last post Tom,the madder I get.Now I might be 100% wrong here, and if I am I apoligize in advance, but I think that you think I stole your Ty.After all,I did own it and do seem to be enamored with it slightly.Let me elaborate:

The reason I see your posts everytime is because I see ALL posts. Not just yours, but every single post that's ever been posted since this board started.I visit it several times a day and always view the posts since my last visit.I see you,I say hey because we got something in common.

Let me tell you a little about me,since we've never met.I'm 35 years old, live in a 120k house, got a $16/hr job,40k in my 401k,a BEAUTIFUL 12 second Ty,and my wife is pregnant with our first child.Do you think for a second that I'd risk losing all that for a "parts truck"?

Best of luck man,I hope the cops find your Ty in 1 piece.

Jimmy.....calm down man....I am not pointing fingers at anybody. I have just developed this senario in my mind of why somebody would steal this vehicle, that's all.

This is what I'm most upset about in this whole ordeal. I am upset that this vehicle is a collector item and is rare, so parts are scarce and very expensive and the fact that now somebody out there has it for the wrong reason that you and I have owned it. I am a lover of the automobile and love owning the ones that nobody else would even consider. Somebody took it for the WRONG REASONS :x and that makes me furious.

I would be shocked if I found out it was you behind this theft, Jimmy. But at the same time, I haven't discounted ANYBODY in this thing yet.

LOL I'm totally calm Tom,I just wanted to let you know my feelings about it :D

I wouldn't blame you one bit for thinking it could be a previous owner,I mean that truck has had about 7 different titles.

I just hope that you had full coverage insurance, because the more time that goes by,the less likely it will be found intact. If I was in your shoes,I'd be cruising every street in town looking for it.

I'm there dude!

I'm there dude!

Everybody I know has been rubbernecking around town trying to find it. But I think everybody would agree that there is a slim chance to none that this truck is anywhere close to where I live now.

I think they should start using the amber alert system to recover vehicles as well. I wish I had LoJack on it, then I could tell you exactly where it is right now. 8)

I can understand being very angry about your Ty being stolen, but what you are implying upsets me. Still, I really hope you get your Ty back in one piece.

I don't check this board everyday, I just started getting back on here last week.
