I will try that as soon as I can.. I'm decommissioned as of right now due to being hit by a car yesterday while cycling... got a broken hand and awaiting to be casted right now....let me know what you find out...

The truboost is set at 35% duty cycle and 9.2 spring pressure...This is for just a six.

OK, what happens when you set the duty cycle to say 60%
There are two duty cycles %'s (A & B) . Set both @ 60% & see what happens.:2cents:

AT have you tried removing the hoses from the wastegate to the turbo and testing? Gonna try that tonight.

You should always have a boost source hose going to the wastegate actuator (unless you really know what your doing and are planning on have the turbo build maximum boost)

How are you controlling boost? Just using the wastegate actuator?

had the same exact issue with my stock turbo'd truck . Take a close look at the turbo condition . my center section is trashed from turbo being abused and having god knows how many miles on it ... my turbo spools fast as hell but stops at 9-10 lbs . rebuilding the turbo right now with a 60-1 wheel and 3'' housing .

dgoodhue....I meant just for turbo testing...similar to guys saying to wire the wastegate shut..just a quick test....

bezerker...I think I have the same problem...I have no play in the turbo...but that oil blowout is a sign of failure.

I don't know why but my oil pressure is through the roof...80psi. The only thing I did was the oil filter remote removal thingy over the winter. I just feel like that excess pressure potentially blew out my turbo oil seal.

Got the cat removed today. ....dialed down the duty cycle and spring pressure....boom it's all back to normal and throttle response is better than ever... just straight piped it and got it welded. .. yay for me.

Re: Turbo won't boost above 10psi

Not me pal...I tore the turbo apart..blew that compressor side..caked with cooked oil. I was going to say you did the same thing, because my picture of that oil on the exhaust side was exactly what mine looks like...but maybe not.

Bezerker...can you give me some pointers on what you are doing...I'd love to mod the turbo before putting it back in....I can't seem to get a good answer on the 20g setup...seems like the exhaust side needs to be modded too...?

Thanks,

Jon

Cool, are you looking at doing a TD06 compressor wheel also? Then machine out the exhaust side to fit a 3" exhaust?

I'm mostly stock with a 3" exhaust and meth...this seems to be a good upgrade..

Thanks,

Jon

Thanks for the info...just gonna rebuild the stocker for now....starting to see those new 4.3 ecotec3 engines available....rather look at one of those before I get in too deep!

Thanks to 0966Sy...cranked down on the Forge actuator and the thing f'n flew...Awesome...now time to learn more about Code 59...thanks.

Code what?

Glad you got it sorted out, the forge gate has a sweet spot for preload. 1/2 turns +/- can help dial in that steady target boost without even using a EBC. I'd consider getting your PCV system up to par running the two valves like stock. It will help keep detonation down by lowering crankcase pressure/contributing to blowby.

Hope you got your turbo fixed up, blowing the seal makes a mess in the exhaust. I'd go ahead and replace the O2 sensor.

Re: Turbo won't boost above 10psi

Thanks...actually I think I am having that problem now...

Tightening up that wastegate made it pull hard but still only to 9 psi or so...I removed all the EGR stuff and probably have it too backed up now...I can smell fuel in the oil.

Re: Turbo won't boost above 10psi

Welp...hooked up a aftermarket boost sensor...went to 23psi...so I guess I don't have any problems..that's what I get for buying a cheap 3 bar sensor on ebay.

Oh yes, stay away from cheap map sensors. Even Berg Werner I've seen fail short lived.
