Project Never Ends

Re: Project Never Ends

Yes, in the stock CAC location but tilted the opposite direction. Top is tucked in behind the bumper cover, bottom sits about the same height as the sway bar. Outlet is moved, waiting for material to redo the inlets. Long term would like to get an all new custom core built -vs- the ebay cores and a ton of trial and error on what I like.

Re: Project Never Ends

Are you actually going to use those air filters in the pictures above? Will they provide you enough flow?

Re: Project Never Ends

Probably not, they were cheap and kept dirt and debris out. Once I get everything else figured out I will be looking for something better.

Re: Project Never Ends

Ok been a little while since I updated.

Fenders are back on, truck has brakes now (which those that were at nats will appreciate). Built a custom fan shroud that tucks in tight to the radiator and the intercooler pipe, well forms around it.

Front is ready for alignment now, got a few things to tweak on the rear suspension and truck might be able to make a madden voyage around the block anyways under its own power.

Still a ton of little things left, but having a truck that drives will be a big step in the right direction. Brake system took awhile to get figured out and all the parts ordered. The only thing left from stock system is the mastercylinder. I switched out every line, flex line, etc and converted it all to -03 AN. Tossed the stock prop valve, installed an adjustable one, dual line locks, c5 from calipers, ls1 rear discs.

Once I can steal someones camera I will get some updated pics, and hopefully some video of the madden voyage.

Careful what you wish for... a Madden voyage.

Re: Project Never Ends

Coolant system got filled up last night, as well as the anti-rattle clip I was missing for the brakes.

tonight plan is to get the vacuum lines hooked up, turn on the key and try and talk to the tranny computer and make sure it is loaded up for 4l80e. Once that is a go, no reason I can't fire it up and get at least the idle fuel dialed in close. The few times I ran it before it was real rich.

Some rear suspension mods and hopefully no later than tomorrow I can drive it around the block if for nothing more than to say it moved under its own power which will be a first time in ~5 years. :2thumbs:

Here is how I bought the truck back in Sept. 1998

Re: Project Never Ends

Truck moved under it's own power today for the 1st time in over 5 years. WAHOO.

A few bugs to work out and truck isn't really DONE by any means, but drivable is a good start for sure.

The plugs were partially fouled from tuning, so a couple cylinders are not exactly happy. During the 3 drives around the block I could tell a few times those plugs actually lite off and WOW. Not sure my nut sack will be able to handle this.

Motivation to get all the little stuff done is high so be driving it to work in no time.
