number 2 will fetch more(than a later vined truck) because its the first sold car 1 should be worth more but with it being a restored truck and 2 being a "survivor" and original owner and the autoshow and press truck that might make the difference smaller

It couldn't have been sold at the PAS auction in 1994 due to the first time it was titled was in 1993......

A title is enough paperwork to say it was VIN #1. But, does that make it the first produced? I think you get where I'm going here...

If you can prove that it was produced (and delivered) before the other VINs, (VINs 002 and 003) then you have something of more value.

The reality is that in the SyTy world, it's quite ambiguous at times to determine what "first" was. First rolling chassis complete? Or delivered from PAS? The fact that this didn't go through the normal delivery cycle clouds things even further. (or maybe, adds mystique?)

If you can determine that this is not only VIN #1, but the first one produced, I don't think the asking range is too far out of whack.

It would need to have a correct, frame off resto with all the tags and such, including things that may have been unique to this particular truck. (The assembly process was pretty new)

Carfax doesn't always go back to day 1, especially on older cars. I bought my 86 Corvette in 1994 August of 94, the second owner bought in June 94 (only 2 months earlier.) It only went back to me.

The 7,103 could alway be a typo when it should have been 71,000

exactly. The truck is still a whooped piece of shit. Can it be saved? sure... but also at what cost? Considering how much some of the true collector trucks have been fetching, $12K seems high for a novelty turd that needs a complete resto.

That is a $5000 Syclone, beat to hell, needs a ton of work and with 107k on the clock, the VIN# is cool but still probably not the first Syclone (unless proven otherwise). Carfax has a different story than what the owner is saying. Did he put 100k miles on it in 4 years or was the mileage incorrectly stated at 7k?

Truck has no historical value other than being labeled as #0001. It's built same way my truck is and the rest of everyone else's trucks. Unless something is truely "special" historically about it (has prototype parts on it, signatures, or other misc oddities that the standard production trucks DONT have), to me, its just another Syclone.

On average, given todays values of what trucks are selling for, $8k max cause of the cool factor of #0001, otherwise, $6-7k

Did anyone else notice that Carfax called it a Sonoma? I'm not debating the authenticity because the VIN fits the Syclone VIN formula; I just think its strange.

Run any known legit Sy VIN through Autocheck and they should say the same thing. Carfax may be different.

Even though that we know how badass our trucks are,to most ppl they are a stupid V6 Sonoma/Jimmy with ground effects,that any S-10 with a 350 would kill. :roll:

I really don't see them ever getting the respect that they deserve,nor do I give a funk.

I like the idea of cheap trucks,cause that just means Harmon can buy more.

If you want to get technical about it, the first Syclone built was the manufacturing "buck".

It was built, disassembled, and built 4-5 times at the start of each shift at Shreveport to teach the line folks how to build one.

Never saw the light of day, publicly, and wasn't a Sy VIN.

Build dates on 001,002,003 all list the same build date of 1-18-91. I suspect the individual build paperwork would also list a time of day, which would show the actual "first" one built.

There's really no question that 002 was the first one sold to the public. That doesn't mean that VIN 001 *doesn't* have some significance - in fact, that it went around the normal production/delivery cycle adds interest.

If you look at the restored cars that bring big $$ at BJ or Mecum, it's:

Cars that are rare.
Cars that are uniquely optioned or colored.
Cars that have a numerical significance. (and can document that fact)
And, particularly, cars that have a unique racing or production history that can be documented.

It's pretty apparent that most folks here don't think it's worth anything outside of normal SyTy pricing.
But we're not collectors- not in the sense of the big $$ unique car collector. Those guys play in dollar worlds we can't touch, or even begin to understand. What a car is worth is immaterial; what someone will pay for the unique is what counts.

A semi-local guy has the last '71 Hemi Cuda convertible built. Supposedly is a $2 million car.
Is any car worth that? No. But people will pay to have the last of something, particularly if it's performance oriented and rare.

Many others have nicer/cleaner trucks. But you can't put VIN 001 on any of those.
