HTR-Z. How much Boost do you launch at? I was launching at 5-6 with 30psi in the tires.

I'm thinking lowering the 2-step to 2800, and adjusting the front end limiters to keep the front down more. And hopefully launch with more boost.

If anyone has any more tips please chime in!!

im thinking leave the 2 step alone and go back to higher boost launches period
dont worry so much about rpm and 2 step
- you will run out of boost before the tach runs out of rpm.

I'm also thinking according to Matt (e95), try without the limiters. I know last year I was running mid-high 12's stock converter with the limiters. When I took them out last pass, I ran 12.3. So I might try that one pass. Also Matt said, as he was told, the way the T-case works, if the rear doesn't spin the front shouldn't. So in theory, if I don't have limiters and the weight transfers to the rear, the rear shouldnt spin and the front shouldnt either.....

So far I have-

-Leave 2-step same, leave with higher boost, hoping it doesn't leave with a cloud of smoke.
-Adjust my limiters lower to keep the front down for more traction
-Try without limiters
-Lower tire pressure a bit more

60' - 1.57 tire psi was at 35 on all four, I do have coil overs.

Launch RPM was 3925

Launch boost was 17psi and I had very little wheel spin but bout shit when it took off, definitely the best launch I have ever felt in my truck.

Mike, I dont know how you managed to hook with all that boost. You can see in the video I'm spinning at only 5-6. I dont get it.

How old are your tires?

New. I actually have nice BFGs in the front, and Sumitomos in the rear.

The reason I ask is my Sumitumo HTR-Z are 8 years old and hard as rock even though they have sat in the garage there whole life. I can only launch them at 2-3 psi. The were nice and sticky when new.

Was the track cold? What was the temperature for the day?

The difference I had with sumitomo traction and nitto drags on a RWD car was night and day. You seriously need to ditch the cheap hard sumitomos for something stickier. Your obviously traction limited if your spinning the tires at 6 psi.

Going back to the Track tomorrow. I'm not giving up just yet with my goal. So far I've adjusted the 2step to 3200rpm for some more boost on the line and lowered the tire pressure in the rear a bit. I will also adjust my front limiters to keep the front down. Other than that I think it'll do what I want.

Be careful. If you are already spinning at lower boost. A higher boost launch could really smoke the tires.

But lowering the tire pressure to about 24 or 26 may help with the spinning issue. So your plan could work out OK. With the lower tire pressure you can adjust your boost launch psi if you do spin.

You could also try a little more timing. But watch for KR. Good luck. You will get there.

Maybe it's the difference between HTRZ and HTRZIII's?

Honestly the only problems launching my truck has ever had have been when I had Michelin PS2's. I had 285's on the front and 335's on the rear and it was like launching on butter. My current tires are 285 rear and 245 up front and they are on Z06 wheels.

An old trick to do while @ the track, crank down the torsion bar tension. Don't go too crazy though.

This will keep the front end down more.

Just remember how many turns you loosened the bolts, then when you are done racing, crank it back up to the original height you had by counting the same amount of turns you had loosened the bolts.

don't think the torsion bars would do much to his coilovers up front.

I adjusted the limiters a bit more. Took a test launch with the 2step now at 3200rpms and can reach 9-10psi and took off. Spun a little, so I lowered the front psi to 25psi (all 4 at 25psi) and will try again in a bit.

Tomorrow will be around 75* and I'm sure the track will be hotter. So the higher temp combined with track compound should be good enough.
