Re: Fastest stock turbo?

Re: Fastest stock turbo?

latest update, i cant get boost dialed in at all even with the spring mod...
If i slowly and i mean very slowly ease into gas for boost, itll stick around 12lbs.. but if i wot it still goes up to twenty and i back out. From what i think, i still have the spring/adjuster to tight "ive had it so loose, i can wiggle it back and forth", and that the boost is staying instead of escaping resulting in my boost going way high correct??

this is getting very frustrating since ive been out for over a hour adjusting the spring adjuster and boost. Trying to start low and work my way up, and i just cant seem to find the happy medium.. I love how smooth the boost is now with the manual controller, but just want it to stop jumping up over what i want it set at... Atleast i have the stock soleniod still in place so if worse comes to worse ill just plug that back up, but then have my nasty shift/boost problems again

Ik how you feel. I struggled with the Stock turbo, just like you. Even with Code59 and changing the duty cycle, I still wasn't able to reach 20psi in 1st gear. I had the WG actuator really tight and with a helper spring.

Did you try checking to see if your flapper arm moves freely when the engine is hot? These stock turbos are prone to sticking when hot.

Other than that, looks like you tryed a lot options. I'd be glad to help you if you wana come by me one day. And we can hook it up to Datamaster.

Re: Improving stock turbo Typhoon track times

im not worried bout hitting 20psi in first gear, i just want a smooth steady boost.. The manual boost valve made a hugggeee difference in smoothing it out, i just want it buttoned up and solid. i know i wont get completely solid, but i feel like im getting close.. Also how tight did you actually have the spring? i was wondering if i had mine to tight, which cause the wg not to open, which causes my crazy boost jump at wot

i have not checked yet if the flatter is stuck when hot, but i know its flappy when cold haha.

ill bring my laptop sunday if you got time after the meet other then that, im down to come up whenever..

Code what?
Go with the forge gate, you will feel dumb for wasting your time with the stock gate. I may have missed it but are you still on a two bar chip? If so, I'd keep the boost lower than 16psi. Are your intercooler hoses ran to the driver side? If so that's great because it makes it simple to drain and fill within 5min. Get a 5gal race gas jug and fill it with bags of ice and top off with water. When you are between runs drain the hot water and refill with ice cold water.

Keep the knock down low with your tune, intake temps cold and some good 1.8 60' times and you will hit 13's with solid boost control. Read plugs and try the colder range ur6 at .032-.035 gap
