Is there any trick to the power steering pump or do you just remove it with the engine?

To remove the pump, go get a GM power steering pully puller/installer tool kit. Don't bother w/ Harbor freight one...is too long to work if you ever plan on removing the pully with the radiator in place in the future ( I have one of each now:rant:). Once the pully is off, you can get to the mounting bolts. I bought the whole kit in one a bit cheaper than separately. You might be able to yank the motor w/o removing it but it will save bleeding the system if you disconnect the lines.:2cents:

The puller/installer I got from AutoZone works perfect with the raiator still installed. It was only $40 too.

i wouldn't take the pulley of unless you need to, just get another (14mm) wrench and cut it down thinner, so you can acces the bolt for the mounting bracket.

I just pulled the whole thing still attached to the engine. Remove the lines and good to go

Was thinking of this thread doing this. Not to bad for my first syty engine removal. Removed upper intake, accessories and set power steering pump to the side attached, left in distributor, exhaust manifolds, turbo, crossover I left on. Helped me access alot of stuff real easy by removing inner fender wells and steering shaft. Upper bell housing bolts just used a 9/16 gear wrench from the top.

About how long did it take you?
