CRL window

Re: CRL window

FYI I remember seeing "breezer" in the back of magazines like Truckin. I don't know if they still make them for old generation S10 and Syclone, but I was thinking of getting one for my S10 back then. It's not a power window, it's removeable, but probably has the same affect.

All the way down. Now that would be a kick ass addition to a sy...I wouldn't mind being able to roll down the back window on my ty kind of like the old broncos.

This is a great idea. I had an 89 Blazer (full size) and I loved that rear window. I think it could be done using donor parts from the trucks that came with the rear power window. I know old school Blazers, Broncos and even, Toyota 4 Runners have 'em. I think the hard part would be the grafting / fabricating of the window channel the window needs to roll up into for a tight fit in order to keep weather and noise out of the truck. You'll lose the wiper but would be able to retain the rear defroster.

The biggest problem I can see would be that the rear window on Typhoons is at an angle. All of the trucks that had power rear windows had completely vertical rear windows.

Re: CRL window

For future reference - a search for CRL window motor "REP 852" came up with zilch.

Found a '86-'95 Ford Taurus, Lincoln, Mercury window motor which looks almost identical.
Bolt pattern, gear pitch and even pigtail connector are the same. Part number E6DZ-5423395-A (front passenger motor).

Re: CRL window

Searching for this has been driving me crazy for years! :bad-word: Of course, it was in a box that I forgot about after I moved.

I'll get this scanned soon. Email me (see profile) if you would like a PDF copy.

Re: CRL window

Thanks for all the interest. Got way more emails than I expected. I'm taking the lazy way out and posting the download link here. ;)

CRL PowrLite Installation Instructions - 10 pages (searchable), 11.71 MB.

I also did some research on the patents. I'm no patent lawyer, but I think the patents have expired. I've been building my own window. Maybe these will inspire others to do the same.

CRL Patent 4113941 - 7 pages (searchable), 853.77 KB, design sketches and a bunch of legalese.

CRL Patent 4671013 - 12 pages (searchable), 1.31 MB, sketches and mechanical drawings, tons of legalese.

Below are the brackets and screws that I didn't use. That spatula is a "must-have" though.

The most important part of the installation is the lube/hand cleaner. I don't know what's in it, but it works great.
If you think you put enough, add more. If the seal or cord gets stuck, you'll be swearing all day. Luckily, CRL still makes it.
