Re: Changes for 2012

Headers came in today. Will have to make the crossover tube, turbo mount, etc. Looks like there will also be some clearancing of the valvecovers needed.

Re: Changes for 2012

I was really hoping to see what you could do with the v6.....I do understand going v8 though. Nolan told me for the $ I spent on my 700hp v6 I could of built a 1200+hp v8. Good luck with it, im sure its going to be a beast....

Re: Changes for 2012

Alex, what are you planning to run for the TB? Dang, I need to seriously consider V6 VS V8. I have almost everything I need for the V6 engine build....but an old skool V8 FI and turbo or 2...hmmm.

Re: Changes for 2012

I will be reusing the same setup from the V6...a Precision Turbo elbow, Wilson Manifolds 80mm Ford-style TB, and GM IAC/TPS.

Its Steve Morris'. 93 Buick Roadmaster wagon. 540BBC with an F3R-139 ProCharger. Ran a best last year of 4:66 @ 167mph in the eigth. Weighs 3700#. It is badass!

Re: Changes for 2012

I like the way it looks alot, and that cam is gonna work great. I'm suprised you went with that 4 bolt setup instead of a splayed for what your doing to that lower end.

Its because its what he had. Its not like he is looking to break records. Just wants a reliable beast for as little as possible right now. Then, while he is enjoying it, can build a race mill

Re: Changes for 2012

I understand that. I've just seen a few of those blocks crack where the mains are tapped in. The metal in between the 2 bolts will crack. It's been argued that the 2 bolt mains are stronger just because they have the extra metal. I'm by no means saying thats going to happen, and that your doing anything wrong, I just hope it doesn't happen to you (it happened to me)

What kind of power were you making? What was the use (nitrous/blower/etc)? We will soon see how it handles it. I hope to get back to it on Thursday to finish the fab. Maybe test this weekend.

Re: Changes for 2012

Thats a mean woody (caprice, roadmaster?)

Not nearly as much as you, not even 550 hp. I built the motor at school. The 010 'high nickle' block and all. It was a na all fuel motor with decently high compression. It started knocking prolly 8 months after it was built. The guy was pretty hard on it though....although I know it had a rev limiter on it for 7200 (it was a well balanced motor)

I need to get on my project, been a bad week. I don't even have the motor fully mounted in the truck yet :(

All I know is this Alex knows how to build a engine. 2 it will be very fast. 3 wont break the bank. 4 we will all enjoy watching him build it. Good Luck Alex can't wait to ride in it again in 2012! :)
