well after a long ass wait i finally received the prototypes for the pTE downpipe section and upper intercooler. I took some pics which I will need to load on my site for viewing.

Upon first inspection they look nice and pricey. The intercooler blanket fits nice, and looks to be pretty complete. The Downpipe piece goes all the way down between the frame and looks pretty bulky (not sure if it will fit, and it will most likely rub on the manifold. I think that piece may need some refinements.

the a2w i/c cover sounds like a winner...glad to see they finally got around to wanting to make some money...

Seems like they are not interested in making them. GP on RPM A2A :) ?

Aye for GP on RPM A2A.

That's 2

number 3 here...i asked mike about a gp on a2a's today and he said a gp wasn't really worth the cheap price...cores are hard to come by...i really want an rpm a2a soon...only 1195.00...my sy needs one bad unless the i/c cover happens...

i have not installed either of these pieces yet, nor do i know how much they will eventually cost. I guess we first need to make sure they fit, and verify need no additional modifications, then we can give them the go ahead that the prototypes work and get a price from there. They have saved everything in CAD, so as soon as i give them the go ahead we will get a solid price and the tooling is already done. I told julio b/t the different pieces we are looking at a 100 piece order so he was going to try and get me some ball park pricing last time i talked to them.

Anyone local willing to try these out?

the downpipe piece looks like a winner...looks like it would yield best results than the intercooler cover if used with an exhaust housing blanket as well...think about the savings on starters, plugwires and such if the downpipe was completely covered...

What kind of time frame ??

How long are these looking until purchase availibility ? Ballpark time frame if possible .

i have some guys interested in mocking up/installing these pieces so once done i will have a better idea of installation proceedures. Working on price, but i think fitting the prototypes first is the biggest issue.

I think the IC blanket will work perfect, but the clearance on the downpipe will be tooo tight to fit the entire blanket. As many of you know the pipes already practically touch the frame and spots on the manifold. The wrap is close to 1" thick on each side. Definately good for heat protection, bad for fitment

looking at my DP, i think i could afford 1" and squeeze it in there...that product should rule out false knock if its properly installed, even if its forced on...ic blanket looks like a winner IMO also....all my wire loom needs replacing because of a hot underhood in its past....im all for it...

well just by looking at it I can guarantee you there is no way it will fit as is. The headpipe shouldnt be a problem but the rest is., WHen i wrap a tape measure around a 3" pipe it is ~10". With the wrap it is 15"

Wouldn't a turbo blanket hold heat in and possibly damage the turbo? I could see doing the downpipe and intercooler, but I would think that covering the turbo could possibly bake the turbo.

What do you guys think?

i was thinking about cool down time, i doubt the increased temps will hurt the turbo, but it will get hotter and take longer to cool off, i would not cover the turbo without a turbo timer.

speaking of heat...from what i understand, we benefit from the blankets in the way that they accelerate the hot air out of the exhaust and that alone supposedly increases performance to a certain degree...maybe bs, but if i can get my hands on an exhaust turbine cover and a dp cover, i can verify this on my friends dynojet...

edit: we are replacing toasted wireloom and stuff in my sy tonight...heat under the hood sucks period...the hotter side of the turbocharger has to be the biggest contributor to this problem...

mike, i didn't see pics of the exhaust housing blanket...any plans for a pte .85 one? i think justbeaching got one for a stock turbo...
