Re: The looks you get from Lighting owners.

Those few people would be wrong... The suspension is different, the interior quality is different, the tranny is different, the engine is different, the entire quality is different... Too much to list...

I think the debate between the L and a syty (and even a srt-10) are a little different.

Most will say a L is just a f-150 with a sc'd engine and a few body mods. Which is damn near true. Cant say the same fwith a s-15 and a syty. There are alot of syty only parts.
try and take an f150 and turn it into a lightning. you will find out there are more differences then a SC and a bodykit...

Whats the difference between a L and a Harley F-150 then?

i'm not too sure on that one. I never really looked into the Harleys. I believe that the Harleys are just quad cab lightnings without the ground effects. I could be wrong though. I do know the Harleys run a different pulley combo on the SC though.

Not trying to be rude, but I was running 12.4's on a stock block with 470 rwph on street tires....

No way with 550 rwhp is someone only at 12.4...

I am originally from upstate NY, if the best they think we can run is 12.0, I might need to go back home and make some cash at your local track... What track up there are you running at btw.

I will be honest I don't know too much about Harleys cause they have three gen's of them... But the s/c version was i believe just a quad cab version with a different lower pulley. It ways a lot more than a Lightning which inhibts it performance.

I beat one with my pos supercharged v6. After the race the guy in the lightning whined about traction (I was on BFG DR's he wasnt). I'm sure he would have taken me on the top end but we only ran up to around 65 or so. Had him by atleast a length.

Damn, wish I didnt see this thread. I have to throw in my .02 but will try to remain to keep up friendly relations. I raced a modded Lightning (chip, pulley, full exhaust w/headers, intake and I think that was it). It was not impressive at all IMO. From a roll they are but @80mph he still wastn passing me. He was still a good 2-3 cars back. I have this on video. The guy is known for his truck. From what Ive seen, bone stock, L's only run low 14's. Up here at 6000ft., they are in the high 14's low 15's. Sorry L' boys, they are not gods stock. I raced one in my 80 Vette and got raped Ill admit that for sure but that was a pos with 190hp. I fear no Lightning as they have all been tlak in my experience. There is one guy around town who goes out on cruise nioght with his dirt bike in the back of his L and he seems to pull mucho chicks with this get up. Personally I think its kinda gay but thats just me. Anyway, L's are alright but I am a car Nazi and think Fords should be burned. LOL ...J/k

Re: The looks you get from Lighting owners.

no one said they are gods stock. If they were i wouldnt of dumped over 10k in it to make it fast. I am not saying that a Lightning is better then a sy or ty. But im not saying a sy or ty is better either. they are all great. I wouldnt own either if i didnt appreciate them for what they are. I'm sorry that all the lightning owners you have seen talk shit while they are slow, but the same can be said for syty owners. I raced a stock sy. I wont even tell you the outcome. I raced my ty against my lightning. even worse. there are a few of us out here that are serious with our trucks. I just happen to be one of them.

Re: The looks you get from Lighting owners.

Yeah, the first Lightning I ever raced raped me for sure. At the time I had owned my truck for about a month. I didnt really know how to boost launch it nor was it running right Im sure. When I raced this one I was talking about I had learned a lot. This was about 6-8 months ago. I had my truck running pretty much perfect. It was a near perfect tune and stock. I would say that more than half the SYTY owners out there dont know how to race thier trucks and or are not running well. If you nose around this board you will se that we have very tempermental ignitions. I know its only been 3000 miles since plugs and wires cap and rotor but am due again. Ive met a few people here in my town that are just clueless abotu how to race thier trucks. It makes me mad cause they are out there giving us a bad name.

Re: The looks you get from Lighting owners.

My buddies stock to the paper Lightning ran 13.47 like I stated... I would say that is damn good for a 5,100 race weight with the driver. But they are not God's... But they are fun as hell to drive... I love driving my dads Ty and I love driving my L... It's all about horsepower... The torque in even a lightly modded lightning is incredible and fun to drive... Boost launching in a Ty is equally as fun.

Re: The looks you get from Lighting owners.

Do you ever think the lightnings were created as a testbed for the Cobra and GT? Trucks require less stringent CARB mandates thereby reducing emissions restrictions and eliminating gas guzzler taxes. What better way to test longevity than to put it in a truck and let'em beat the living daylights out of it.
