Re: Sy #2875 Build :eh:
Well guys, heres another long overdue update! with under a month until Homecoming 2012...The goal truck driving there under its own power is a long shot however im still working towards it!
Since the last update i've got my rear Disc brake conversion kit from "The Right Stuff". It has 12" upgraded slotted anc crossed drilled rotors, stainless lines ect. Very Nice kit however i was not impressed with the overall weight of the calipers a little heavy for my liking...
After i finally had the motor sitting where it needed to be and no more issues with parts hitting and not fiting it was time to make my motor mounts. I used a brand new LS1 4th gen camaro poly mount which bolts on the motor and it attaches to a solid stell style that my father and I made.
After being tacked it they were taken out and painted.
After the mounts were reinstalled, i pulled the trans after mock up so that i could sent the transfer case and 4l80E out to get built...
Loaded in the back of my fathers truck!
With the motor looking pretty lonely it was time to start the exhaust. I wanted a full 3" true duals exhaust that was catted. So mufflers, 16' of 3" stainless pipe and high flow cats were ordered!
With in a few days i had recieved the pipe. Also recieved my Bolra XR1 3" in 3" out mufflers and magnaflow high flow cats.
Should flow pretty good and be loud as hell!
Decided that removing this crossmember and replacing it with a custom made tubular unit would provide me with alot more room for exhaust resulting in less headaches! so off it went!
After a week or so of working on it for an hour or so every night after work, along with installing my Sportmachines Stainless brake and fuel lines as well as gas tank, and this is what it was looking like.....
Forgot the new 4-link crossmember raised the gas tank 2 inches....put the cab back on to test fit and man was it ever close....
Took a break from the exhaust for a bit.... started working on my brakes as I need to install them soon!
C6 Z51 package corvette front calipers and brackets....
sanded them and brimed them along with my new rear calipers...
Sanded them down the next night and got them ready to spray them that weekend....
Long story short....after another 2 coats of base, 3 coats of pearl and 3 coats of clear the brakes were done (sorry for the shitty lighting)......
pulled up my old white 93 ty to rob some more parts off it! such as this....the previous owner of my truck cut up the original....
It was nice out to so I pushed the truck outside so I could stare at it again and keep motivated....
Got my transmission and transfer case back from Milton Transmission!
cleaned both of them, then primed and painted them.
Painted and together!
Stall in!
reinstalled the trans...
Got my HD prop shaft and drive shaft back from Pats Driveline Inc. Had the driveshaft shortened and the prop shaft legthened. primed and painted them, and then installed them!
before putting the cab back on for hopefully one of the last times...i decided to finally detail the floor as it was bothering me for some time!
Before:
After:
R\obbed half of the heater box from my 93' typhoon that was previously posted so I could try and work toward finishing up the modified heater box on the Sy. The notch that I cut out of the Syclone heater box so that the LS1 head would clear, Well the setion to the left of it with some modifying and trimming would indent enough to work and clear the head if I could mold it in there... Hopefully that makes sense, It isnt by any means finished I only spent about a half an hour on it but you can get a idea of what im going for...
Next I started to take apart the rear end to install my new axle seals and rear disc brake conversion...
New mounting brackets mounted up...
12" rear discs...
and ill leave your guys with this mystery box of aftermarket goodies
Until the next update....stay tuned!!
