Well my new front marker, and turn signals came in the mail with the night shade spray tint. So my buddy and I went to town on my trucks lights and GMC letters on the grill. let me know what you think.

Thanks, I'm pretty stoked on how it all turned out. I took a picture of the tail lights in direct sunlight today, so you can see how much we shaded them. I also put the front end back on the truck to see how the finished product will look....

Thanks Gary, I will, I'm getting impatient waiting for my motor to be finished, running out of thing to do until then.

Taylor I freaking love your So-GT. It is by FAR the cleanest one I have ever seen. If my Syclone could look half as good as your truck someday.....I'd die a happy man. Thanks for the props.

A local machine shop is doing the machine work and assembly of the bottom end, I'm using TRW forged pistons and L35 rods, the shop does great work, my shop has been using them for years. He is going to polish the crank, balance the internals, and look into installing 202 valves in the stock heads. the engine has been there for three weeks and I don't have a clue when it will be done. It's okay though, I have to go to my cousins wedding this weekend then my co-workers wedding the following weekend. So I wouldn't have time to put it in if it was done anyways. But it's looking like I should be able to have it running before the end of the year :tup:

Went to to machine shop yesterday and found out that I need to finish grinding the heads to complete the 2.02 valve grind and then I'll take them back for reassembly ( I don't know if I will spend too much time porting them, I really want to drive the truck.) Then I need a asortment of parts for the install including a 412 Cam, so I guess I will be calling mike at RPM on my lunch today.....

well I have been picking away at the little things I need to do before the engine comes, but I guess I didn't work fast enough cause the engine is here!!! I picked it up yeasterday on my lunch break, I love how it turned out and I feel I got a good deal for what I got. The motor has
TRW pistons
L35 Rods
Stock heads with 2.02 valve ( minor port job by me )
Comp roller tip rocker arms and rods
comp cam 412
some sort of race valves ( jc? I can't remember what he said)
polished stock crank
completely balanced rotating assembly
I'm at work so I'll update the list when I have the build sheet in front of me...

Did they convert it from an externally balanced engine to an internally balanced? How much extra did that cost if so?

It cost me 170 for the engine balancing and I just gave him my pistons, rods, crankshaft, engine block, flexplate, harmonic balancer, and the crankshaft pully to balance the motor. (he had all the parts cause he assembled the engine) Since I'm using the stock no balance shaft motor, I think he only added and took weight away from where it was needed...and made the pistons all the same weight and such, but to be honest with you I"m not completelly sure what he did exactly. I do know that this shop has been in around for many many years and for the 11 years the shop that I work at has been open we have used them for all of our machining needs and we only get great work for these guys. I know that you can have the best parts in the world and if you don't have a good machineist that you can trust it may not turn out the way you would like it, or pay out the nose for not so good work. My boss swears by balancing any motor that you build, it will yeild you more power, so I thought I might as well have it done.

Found some time to work on the sy today. Just ended up cleaning and spray painting some engine parts, it's the tedious work but it payed off in the end. Tomorrow I will be picking up the headers from Jeremy and installing them with my stock turbo for now, then the plans are to drop the engine in so I can begin mocking up the intercooler plumbing, and to powercoat some random engine parts, ( plenum, alt/power steering bracket, water pump pulley...ect.) with me luck.

Well last night I managed to get the motor in the truck. Thanks again Jeremy for the ATR headers, the engine looks great with them all black. I was shocked on how easy it just dropped in. now the fun begins.....

Are you running 17" wagon wheels all around or the 17/18 combo?
What tire size are you running?
Spacers size (front if needed, rear?)

Ive always loved the wagon wheels and just scored myself a set yesterday (17/18) combo. Giving up my black Z06-Rs and getting the wagons powdercoated black and putting em on. Not sure if I want to stick with the 17/18 and might look to get rid of the 18s to get another 2 17s. Already have the 1.25 spacer out back for the Z06-Rs.

hey adam,
I'm running 18" wagon wheels all around (I plan to run c5 Z06 brakes ) with 275/40/18 rubber. I had to use 1"/1.25" spacers in the rear, cause my differential isn't centered. I love the look of then in high gloss black, and I decided to use the 275/40/18 cause I thought that the 275/35/18 tires had too small of a sidewall. I'm pretty sure the spacers you have right now will work with the wagon wheels.

wow, you dont scrub with the 18s up front? the 17x9.5s just barely hit my a-arms, and had to grind out a section on the front lip. wouldnt have that prob if i could afford coilovers
