They are alright for the price and they do pull pretty hard from a roll I know from riding in my friends but still FWD is not my favorite drivetrain.

FWD...yuck. I'd take an EVO MR or STI in a second over one of those. They should have made that car AWD, such a shame.

It was a weight issue, thats why they made them jus front wheel...A Srt 4 would beat a Evo and a Sti on the roll all day, but from a dig is different ???........My 00 Z28 w/ mild bolt ons walked on my bros srt4, and a 6 speed Z or SS with some gears will bang with a Stock SC cobra....seen it plenty of times...........jus my :2cents:

IMO the SRT-4 is the ultimate low dollar fun, just like their grandpa the Omni GLH.They are wrong wheel drive to keep the cost down. You really can't compare them to the STI/EVO,because they are too cheap.Props for even building them,DaimlerChrysler.

I just wish that GM would build shit that excites me,besides the Z06.The more I look at the SRT-6/SRT-8/SRT-10,and Challenger concept, the more I realize how out of touch with reality GM is.I'm a die hard GM guy,but I like Dodge more than Chevy right now.

I was playing with one in traffic a few months ago, we finally found a light, I had him by a bus length at least, he never caught me till I let off. On our way to the next set of lights he just looked over and said "nice truck" then stomped on it.

i don't see the point....any car can beat any other car with enough money into it.

Re: SRT vs. TY or SY

As far as an EVO or STI goes they weigh almost 2x what the SRT weighs not to mention cost almost 2x as much as well and neither handles mods very well at all. And as far as launching goes if I take and EVO or STI off the line he better just quit for he gets his feelings hurt.

Point is I bought my car used for 15k traded my stock exhuast and $125 for a 3" dump with no cat set up and picked up 27 HP at the wheels spring modded the wastegate for another 50 HP which cost me $1.25 at ace hardware and I have all those kills under my belt.....and the modding has not even really begun.

So the point is I spent $15,126.25 and I smoke just about anything I pull up to. Not to mention that that lightning probably spent 25k to 40k on his truck before mods and I spoke them like they were standing still. Or an '05 GT stang 30k-35k before mods and thousands later Im still right there with them. S/C corbras are a different story. Have not met up with one yet but cant wait to see the look on there face.

Re: SRT vs. TY or SY

OK, so Dodge selected FWD on these cars to reduce weight and keep costs down...makes sense now. Seems like Dodge has been using FWD forever (Omni, Daytona, Caravan, Reliant, etc.). I just drove a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix from San Jose to Phoenix for the holidays and it reminded me of why I dislike FWD platforms. Stab the gas, weight goes to the rear, front tires spin, car goes nowhere. Do the same while turning, situation is worse. Then there's that wonderful torque steer these FWD cars all seem to exhibit...does this happen in the SRT-4? How much would it cost to put an SRT-4 in the mid-11's on pump gas, reliably? Just curious. I'm sure they handle better than a Sy/Ty, no argument there, he he.

...and in the end, you still have a SRT-4. Sort of like taking a early 90's mustang, modding it, and smoking a 911. In the end, it is still a mustang, not a 911.

I'm not putting you down, for the money, that is impressive. My point is simple, it isn't the car that makes the difference, it is the wallet size of the owner and how much they have dumped into it.

Your SRT-4 is modded for cheap, but there are a ton of cars that "could" be purchased and modded for cheaper and be faster....since you bring this unoriginal argument up.

Nice ghetto-rig. I bet your stock fueling/ECU programming system loves those 19PSI spikes. have fun burning up your motor.

I've raced a Stage II SRT4, twice. Greg told me that he was running 13.2's - 13.3's with that setup. Here is the link from the SRTforums, the vid doesn't work anymore because this was a long time ago, but I am going to get the original vid off the computer at work so we can put it in the archives. I have ridden in his car, there is no doubt the SRT's make big power. The car is pretty impressive.

Since that race, Greg is now using a 70 shot and running 12.2X's. My Sy is untuned and running 14-15 lbs of boost.

Haha - because the SyTy wastegate never does that.

Just remember for all you guys who talk about your 12 year old truck that beats high-dollar sports cars...it's still just an S10.

For 20K - you can run 13's and still have a factory warranty. Not a bad return on investment. I agree - it's still just a Neon - but the GN was just a Regal. The Marlboro is just a Sy.

Well see since I have been in the game for awhile not some 16 or 17 year old kid that went " wow I want a SRT4" i did my research and I bet my stock fueling/ecu programming does love the extra boost see being that I have a wideband gauge that says im running 12.1 AFR when I spike and 11.8 to 12.1 to redline so last time i checked 12.6 is pretty much the "perfect" AFR.
