Re: Project Tyclone SS: 85 Jimmy, LT1, AWD, etc

So I worked on reassembling the truck today. Lots of little issues with trying to make an 85 seem like a 1992. For example, the 92 has fender baffles, the 85 has no holes for them.

Swapping over the wiper assembly seems easy enough. Di you know that the bolts on the newer trucks are larger diameter than the bolts used on the older trucks? Yup, had to drill out the holes.

I got all the front end parts installed for what I would like to think is the last time. By front end parts I mean... fenders, grille, bumper, flares, hood, lights, etc Plus all the mounting hardware for everything was finally installed. A special thanks to my parts truck for donating so many small parts, nuts and bolts. heh

If you looked closely at those pictures you can see I had also installed the door handles. They actually look a lot better than I thought they would! I am very pleased!

talk about a project!

i like everything about your truck, ecspecially the color and the drive train. I had my lt-1 for years and aside from driving me crazy, its was amazing. I have a spare accel optispark distributor lying around if you need, i went through those...more often than i wanted to.

That paint looks amazing, i hope to actually lay eyes on it someday, or any other truck actually, never been to nats or anything, maybe someday...

The flush handles fit your trucks look perfectly. You got one unique Tyclone there man:tup: I am wondering if your planning to get any custom Ty inspired decals on it after or leaving it un badged?

Thanks guys. I can't wait till I can drive it some day.

I did a "test paint" on one wheel and decided I want them black. I just haven't had a chance to do them yet.

So while painting the brakes on the truck I took them apart of course. So yesterday I went to put the caliper bracket back on the left rear and there was a puddle under the truck. uh oh... The rear brake line on the left side broke. So my beloved parts truck donated another part to the cause. Unfortunately the fitting where the line goes into the dist box on the axle was a different size. Tomorrow we plan to fix it and get er back mobile again.

Its looking like a truck and Im getting excited!!!

I had a productive day with the truck. Repaired the rear brake line. Ended up going to the parts store and buying a new one and making my own.
I worked on the passenger door. I installed the window channel from the Typhoon, the inside and outside door handles, and worked the outside 2nd gen handle rod and made it work. I installed the strikers, front bumper, wheels and remaining fender flare!

So here we are...

Still need some touch-up paint on the rollpan before I can install the tailgate.

The flares are serving their purpose.

Nice work! A quick couple of questions.
1. The window channel, are those hard to find?
2. The pic of the drivers door, the body line looks off, I think the door was open.

I took them out of some used typhoon doors I have.

The drivers door has no latch, pins aren't installed all the way, no striker, and no handles hooked up. Check out the last pic, you can see the bungee cord holding it closed. Lol

Ahhhh, I was wondering what that was for. Are the door channel things hard to get? I am just curious
