Re: Project Never Ends

Don't get to update stuff for Jeffrey too often. He usually beats me too it!

Got the bearing clearances checked last night and the crank and rods together. Making progress. Slow and right.

I hope to install the camshaft on wednesday and get the bottom end wrapped up if Jeff gets the oil pan leak fixed (welded up). Hope to have the motor done by next weekend!

Shindig is getting closer & closer!

Re: Project Never Ends

Just got through with the motor! It is out of my shop and heading towards Jeffrey's house. No major snafu's. So hopefully it will be all good for the Shindig.

Hope to get the motor back in the Ty monday. A couple of other little loose ends to fix and Jeffrey can get some break- in miles on the rebuild!!!

Can't wait to let'er rip at Orlando!!!

Yep, motor goes in today. I don't want to hear ANY excuses for anybody else that couldn't bring a truck. Here we are driving 900 miles one way leaving in 11 days and the motor isn't even installed yet.

NO EXCUSES BIOTCHES!

You can always break it in slowly a 1/4mile at a time like this guy. :)

Re: Project Never Ends

Worked last night until 11:30. Dobrick and Jeremy both showed up around 7:30 I got started around 5:30.

Motor is in, headers on, trans bolts in, accessories on, engine oil primed. So just missing turbos, plugs/wires, radiator and fenders.

Florida or bust or maybe both.

Re: Project Never Ends

Jeremy grabbed the keys to truck today at lunch and went back over to try some things. Just called and said it is fixed.

We had idle around 2k for breakin. He noticed #8 was red also so he turned idle down and it all went away. Be interesting to put a camera on the engine going down the track I bet they are all bright red.

So install fenders and start cruising around tomorrow.

Re: Project Never Ends

Just got back from Jeffrey's. Truck is finished, well as finished as it was before. Sounds good and intial driving was great. Plan is to get some miles on it then let it rip at the shin dig. See what the Dunc powerplant can do. Unlike someone else we will post video of track times!

Re: Project Never Ends

25 miles or so on it now, all looks good so far. Full tank of gas, ready for the next few days of driving

truck had 72,950 miles when this motor went in. So lets see how it goes and how many I can get on it before it gets loaded on trailer Wednesday.

Re: Project Never Ends

Jeff,

I confirmed at the gas station on the way home, whatever was on my windshield is fresh from your truck. Not sure what it was, but it was minor and might have just been part of the 6qts of trans fluid Jeremy pumped over the bottom of the truck/garage floor. Might also be part of the adapter leak we fixed this evening. Definitely not a huge ordeal, just keep your eye on the fluid levels (as if you wouldn't have).

In other thoughts......Florida or BUST!!!
