I'd suggest an early summer date if possible. That way assuming nats stays in sept, somewhat seperates them a bit.

Heck, this might be the trip I get 10 miles on my ty, win free gas to nats, night at strip club, steak dinner and not sure what else people have bet on with me.

We can go to the Canadian strip clubs you dollar goes futher,

Chad....you'd just take I-75 until you hit Detroit....about 1400 miles if I remember right..I have family in Miami and have made that trip before.

I'd vote that I would attend nats in michigan, however not for the reasons above.

I personally would follow the nats wherever they went. It's not about the location, it's about the people.

So yes I'd go, but not because different is good.

i really give props to those NE that drive the 1400~ miles to KC.
i just dont think i culd do that, thats probably been the #1 reason for the FL guys.
lets move it to the KY, NC TN area.
its probably more central to the people that actually attend.
but no matter where it is, it will be though to match the setup KC has for the nats.

I would bring a least two trucks...maybe a third? Also I am sure we could get Dave Henninger to stop over during track day for some tuning tips or we could have some vehicles for him to tune for a set price. Richard Byrd from Flow Tech would probably come if invited...one of the best head guys around. Miland dragway is great...GM does a lot of testing there. I know Henninger does a lot of their tuning at that track. Michigan Nat's could have a lot to offer... :2cents:

Michigan is hard to beat for an event like this.

I will commit to being a major sponsor of the event as well as working on getting other sponsors, and tech/tuning setup with some well known folks in the Detroit Area

I'd like to suggest the track day be opened up to include all domestic turbo vehicles, similar to this one setup by Gene called Turbo Thunder:

I'd like to see an event that would draw in turbo enthusiasts from Kurt Urban's sleeper Nova(latest issue of Hot Rod, BTW) to the guys making 200+mph passes.

That wouldn't be a bad idea if they made more trucks. But not to many people would want to do a double Nat's, let alone meet with their local group a few times a year. Thats a lot of money for people like myself to spend.. If we get 10,000 people like show up at those import meets then I could see this happening.

There are a lot of if's in this thread.

I don't mean to hate on you guys who say you make every Nats no matter where it is or when it is. Thats nice that some of you who have loads of vacation time, and make a good amount of money a year can say that. But there are a bunch of us on here that would like at least a 6-8 month headstart on where and when the nats are. Mostly due to work, and money.

1400 miles is a good distance to move. Thats at least an extra 2 days travel time on a trip for some of us who might not be able to drive straight thru. (I say that because if I leave Nats sunday, and have to be back to work wed at 8am. I'm not going to stay awake for 72 hours.) I start work before the first of this year. New job working for the state as a correctional officer. I can't just tell them a month before the nats that I'm going to be gone for 8-9 days. They are going to need to know this at least 6 months before I even think about leaving.

Re: poll If the nats were moved to Michigan would you come?

Mike Dobrick is right, the poll is set up wrong. The only choice it gives you is a MI Nats or stay home. It doesn't ask you where you want it to be. I hope to go to the Nats either way.

I just wish this had come up months ago. What happens if they can't find enough people to run a Nats in Michigan? They probably won't have an answer to that question for a month or two. If it's not going to happen in Michigan, then the KC people will have to plan it(on short notice). They will almost have to have it in September because June will only be 7 months away(at that point). The point I'm trying to make is, we should try to make it as easy as possible for the planners--whoever they are. As a way of saying thank you, for planning last years Nats(KC) or for planning next years Nats(KC or MI).

Now you can fly to NATS and still go to the Michigan meet. Later this month we will be hammering out a date as to when this event will take place.

Check out there forum! Its a meet you definately won't want to miss, I promise!

Re: poll If the nats were moved to Michigan would you come?

Well if it were moved to MI, as much as id like to go as that my home state and would be able to see some family, from Houstojn its just way to far to drive for a 3 day event, just not economically feasable.

At 12 hours KC is almost not doable either, but i have enough dedication to suck it up and make the drive anyways, have done it for S-series Nats, and hopefully next year if Nats is still in KC ill be there for them too.
