Re: One last shot... Breaking up!

What's the wideband do when this happens?

When the truck hits the "bad spots" the the WB will start climbing. If I hold it at 2500 and let it keep poping it will jump right to 16 and if I continue to hold it there it will climb to 19 and eventually read LEN on the display. If I continue to depress the throttle the rpms will jump to 3000 and the wideband falls to 10.5 and slowly recovers back to 13ish. It seems as though the truck is dumping to fuel to compensate for the "lean" and when I get passed that point its rich.

Does DM show open or closed loop when this happens?

Re: One last shot... Breaking up!

Did you ever try removing the vac line from the AFPR to see if it changed it at all?

hmmm try the same test with vac line to regulator disconnected and plugged

Tried that... Made it worse. Only if I drop base FP down to 30 does it get any better. :dunno:

I'm sitting here looking at the DM files.... the S-Terms are acting screwy showing negative when they should be sitting on zero (at least compared to what my Sy does - also Don's Uni).

The AFR's are acting strange... they track to a lean condition, then slowly ramp up to a REALLY lean condition.

I'm wondering, again, if the AFPR is sticky/not working properly.

Also, timing seems to be way advanced, up to 48 degrees at 1900rpm.... seems like popping out the exhaust can only happen if there is a timing-related issue (slipped balancer ring?)......

.....thinking out loud..... :D

Re: One last shot... Breaking up!

Have you been using the same MEMCAL/MEMCAL adapter throughout?

Tried a completely different bin (from a different 50# base entirely)?

Odd-ball timing and weird DM numbers point to program corruption.

I've been using the same Moates adapter, I tried a few different .bins but all for 50lbers. I even tried the stock memcal (with out swaping inj or 3 bar) and had the same issue in the same spots.

Re: One last shot... Breaking up!

I was just trying to think about how long this issue goes back... I remember now that I had this issue with the Ultimate chip for the 50# cal and I kept having Todd send me different eproms because we thought it was a problem with the UV chip. I even swapped out ECU 4 years ago. So much has changed I've forgotten how long this dates back. When I swapped to vortec heads and 412 cam (still using same injectors) I had a custom tune done thinking that is was the ultimate all along. This all started after I blew my motor up, I rebuilt it, added 50#ers, AFPR, pte61 kit, TC, and I had todd upgrade my 10n1 chip to an Ultimate. That was the begining of this problem! Some how it got less noticable for a while after Nolan made a fueling change (not sure what he did) and now its back again worse than ever!

Been using the same ECM?

Re: One last shot... Breaking up!

I just looked back at some old emails to Todd from sytychips and it was the same RPMS, 1500, 1900, and 2500 real bad. How the hell did I forget it went back that far? I'm almost convinced that is injectors as turboj suggested or AFPR as me and Wyosyclone were talking about. Those are the only 2 things that have not changed in 4+ years! The 50#lbers were bought used, and the AFPR was new from RPM.

Especially if #6 is way richer. If you think about it logically, something is wrong with that cylinder. Only things I can think of to cause once cylinder to be rich is either lack of ignition or too much fuel. If ignition is ruled out you have too much fuel. If you have too much fuel in only one cylinder I think it should be pretty obvious to you that it is your injectors or the harness. More likely the injector. Maybe swap #6 injector with #4 and see if #4 turns rich.

Re: One last shot... Breaking up!

I thought I sold you some.

I was talking to about the 75#rs you had but I wasn't ready to throw out $300 on a guess. Also I didn't know anything about how to mod the ECM's injector drivers. I'm looking for a set of 65s to make life easier.

Lol! Ohhhh yeahhhh! You had the 50s I also inquired about. Someone else around the same time had the 75s. Myyy bad! I didn't buy yours because my 50s are already maxed at WOT so I'm going bigger. sorry for the confusion.
