Re: Northeast Caravan

Still might be possible for me to co-pilot. Will know soon. Potential conflict with major conference in WV...just don't know if I have a seat there or not.

If I can do KC, I prolly wouldn't be able to leave until thursday, fyi.

Re: Northeast Caravan

Any chance of meeting up with StL guys this year? Looks like I'll be headin out early early Fri morning. Still a chance of leaving Thur but not confirmed yet. Maybe the NE caravan will help make the final decision.

yea it looks like its basically directly on the way...so we should all meet up. That'll be the last stretch of our trip...the last 4 hrs of driving

Re: Northeast Caravan

if the eastern-most guys leave at 6pm wednesday...and we drove straight through we would get near st. louis on 70W at around roughly 11:30am on Thursday probably (gas/food/breaks included). What i don't know at this point is if the caravan intends on driving straight through, or taking a nap break at a rest stop/hotel. If it were me making the decision i'd vote for driving straight through and meeting in St Louis for lunch and continuing on to KC from there.

Re: Northeast Caravan

as long as i have someone that can drive a big ass trailer, I don't have a problem driving straight through...

i'm just not sure i'm a fan of getting to kc then sleeping the first night away...

i took off the 6-13th, so i have plenty of extra time. =)

Re: Northeast Caravan

well it's mostly like 3 roads for the majority of the trip....so trailering shouldn't be too difficult even for the trailering virgins that may try to help you out. I wouldn't be too concerned personally...the highway roads are straight out there....unless of course you are cutting across 5 lanes of traffic at 10am entering Chicago

I can drive anything on the planet, or have already at some point, so I have no problems with that.

If we leave NJ at 6pm, drive normal speeds (we may need to go slow through the pittsburgh area), and stop for 3 hours if needed, we will get to St Louis by noon, or at least thats how its been for Mike and I the past 3 years.

Im not sure if you guys are taking the timezone change on the IN/OH boarder, but you gain an hour there. If we go straight through, we will most likely end up in St Louis between 9 and 10am, pending any traffic.

It would be ideal to leave at 6pm on Wed (from NJ) that way we have time to stop if we need to, or if we do plan on meeting up in St Louis, we can stop for breakfast/lunch.

Ill crunch some numbers later if need be.

Im assuming if everyone is meeting up at Renz's, we are gonna take I-80 west to I-70??

well coming to my place would be out of the way according to yahoo maps/mapquest. The NJ routes have everyone hop on 76W/PA turnpike...so I can just meet up w/ everyone on the turnpike. Its only about an hour drive for me to get to the Bedford exit of the turnpike....so i could just wait at the nearest rest stop of the turnpike from there.

Also...does everyone have 2way radios? They made for some fun for the 2002 NATS. I have 2 little radios...so someone could hold onto one of those.

I funny feeling I am going to need some Advil for this trip...

Sounds good to me, you probably shouldn't spend too much time crunching numbers until we get closer to Sept and the there is a definate head count.

Re: Northeast Caravan

Well, I don't have room to park 10 vehicles in my yard, possibly 6-8, but i am only 10 min. from hwy 70 and there is plenty of parking just a block from my home at the park in an upscale and secure neighborhood. Great place for a social gathering. You all are more than welcome to stop for a couple hours and take a break here. My home is open for whatever anyone may need and we're about 4.5 hours form KC. My original plan was to leave between 5-8am Friday morning and be in KC by noon, but it seems the goal is to make KC by Thur evening. This is very doable if you arrive in the StL area around noon. I'm game for either option, just let me know when and where and I'll adjust my schedule accordingly.

I'm game for whatever route/path we decide to take, if anyone wants a ride they are more than welcome to park their car/truck at my house and hop in, or if you are on the way i can pick you up.

still need to find a car trailer though.

renting a uhaul trailer 1 way would cost $626 from stanhope to kansas city - you taking me should still owe me $
