Hey Guys:
I have never attended a SY/TY National Event. What is all involved and what, if any does the $60+$30 costs cover? Thanks.
Deano

there is a sy/ty nationals forum under the forums page there should be a link to a website that will give you all the info. hth

Re: Northeast Caravan

or read the www.sytynationals.com page. it explains everything just fine.

morgan...you def. know since you've always driven. I'm down for whatever personally. I can long haul...or rest up so we have more energy during NATS. Whichever is fine w/ me.

Re: Northeast Caravan

Looks like we'll be leaving Baltimore Wed afternoon. Looks like Bob is trailering, maybe Denny Raab trailering too, not sure if we're taking Dad's or not this year, and if we'll drive it or trailer it if it goes. Last year we went straight through, got there at 7am. We probably won't try that again, but who knows. You'll probably fly by us on the road, we're more about getting there w/o any incidents than anything else. (Every truck in our caravan broke on the trip back in '98, we're a little gun-shy since then.)

Deano - you should go, it's a great time! I've been to every one and can't imagine missing one.

I would love to go. Outside chance I might attend but get there via plane with da' family to visit brother that lives in KC.

OR...if someone would like a co-driver (be it a Syty or trailer truck), I'd be interested in that too, and help out with gas. Lemme know.

I will not drive my garage queen this year. :squint: Maybe '07.

Re: Northeast Caravan

its 1000 miles from central PA....so from NY prolly 1300 miles, more from upstate. Yahoo claims 15hrs...but i'm banking on 13.5 personally.

Don...you should def. come. What about Jeff? Or does he not have his rig back yet. I'd love to roll in a pack of Tys from the NE. It'd be a new occurance for me since i never see these trucks except for in NJ and KS. :eyes:

so if we got a 9 car caravan going that'd be pretty large. I personally can leave at any time wednesday. I'm a bit more west than everyone else listed i think, so its more up to everyone else's schedule.

smaug gets back soon i think so maybe he'll let us know when he plans/would like to leave.

Mapquest says 22 hours 15 minutes from my house (Western Boston Suburbs, close to the highway) If your near the MA/CT border its probably 2 hours less. I think mapquest uses the speed limit to calculate its numbers. On long trips, I usually drop a little time off those numbers (I usually drive 10mph over the speed limit), maybe closer 19-20 hours of driving. Ofcourse adding in Gas fillups & Food it probably puts you closer to those times again...

I'm back but I have a problem.. big blue is having major issues, so far i've replaced the following:

Rebuilt heads
new fuel system (tank, sending unit, pump)
new TBI unit (used one from a junkyard)
new starter
new ecm (one i've had for awhile off of ebay)
I've done a complete tune up twice
new tranny filter/fluid

and still the truck seems to have issues with power, it just isn't moving like it should, it seems to shift late doesn't down shift, I'm thinking its either the converter or the tranny itself. Basically at this point I don't think i'd trust it driving across the country.

So my options are:
-go out spend money i REALLY don't have and buy a new truck
-fly to KC
-drive the ty (which probably won't make it)
-skip nats this year

I got back from the airport at 3:30am sunday morning, went to drive big blue back home and the starter went, so I had to get a ride home at 3:30am, not good. So I spent yesterday changing the oil in it and replacing the starter, it runs now, just not great.. I have to ask a few questions of some of the tranny guru's on here and see what my options are.

itd be me and my gf.. i wouldnt want to impose on someone to have to take two people.

if big blue doesn't run better by this weekend, i'm going to start dumping money into the ty to see if I can get it road ready for the long haul
