Re: North Fl Tyclone

Progress from today. My buddy called me this morning and said this would be a good day to paint. So at around 2:00, we were here:

Then sealer:

Then color:

Then first coat of clear: Supervised by Rob.

Last coat of clear:

The truck is ready to cut and buff as soon as the clear has set up. Next will be painting the cladding.

Progress today. Today was cut and buff day. We started at about 4:00 with wet stick 1000 grit, then 1500, then 2000, followed by compound, then glaze. We finished about 8:30 tonite:

It turned out pretty nice.

Looks great I really like the silver. What color is the cladding going to be?

Re: North Fl Tyclone

same silver. I am considering paint the grill black, though.

Yeah maybe the inside of the grille and headlight buckets black and the GMC letters silver. Then do black Typhoon and GMC truck logo's. I think that would look good.

Keep up the good, quick work Randy. Get ERR Done.

More blocking on the cladding today. I hope to have it painted thursday or friday. I may be able to put the exterior of the truck back together this weekend. Next will be the wheels and interior.

Thanks. I decided to keep the door things, per Jimmy's advice. Sorry, Mark. I still need to spray the front bumper cover, driver's door cladding, and cowl piece. I should have it together next week.

Re: North Fl Tyclone

No worries man :D

That truck looks great!

Some have said that because it hasn't got a Ty VIN, it's a good parting candidate but I am glad you saved it and have given it a new lease of life. Hell, it runs better than a lot of "real" Typhoons. I hope you get to enjoy it a lot longer.

Great work with the paint Randy - definitely different and it came out well!

Looks great, bring it down to the FAST meet!

I would, Gary, but my wife is having some major surgery on Monday, and I should probably stay here. I will be back at a later date, I had a great time last time I was at your place.

Re: North Fl Tyclone

I pulled out most of the interior today. I will be installing new carpet in the front of the truck, and it will give me a chance to clean things up a little, and half way straighten out the old speaker wiring mess. (The beer can on the tailgate was added to give proper perspective on the size of the job.)

I'm still watching. I look every time the thread "goes red" in the index of new posts. Keep it coming.

In the pic above, who's wht/wht is parked in the lift bay?

That is Typhoon Rob, as we call him. His screen name is Rob2000gt, and he lives in Tallahassee. He brought his TY over to change the door pins using my lift to support the door. Good guy, and he helps me out, plus it is a bonus having a buddy with a stock TY to compare my clone with.
