Re: newb with questions
i know how old these trucks are. thats why im asking you guys as to what i should watch out for. im sure as he** not gonna spend $15,000 for a truck that needs $5,000+ in matinence. when i do look at a truck i need advice on what should raise red flags. as rare as these trucks are theres gotta be a reason as to why people are selling them . ive already passed up 3 sy's. 1 was in really god shape he was the 2nd owner with all the paperwork and the whole 9 yards. the owner said the fuel pump needed replaced and he couldnt start the truck but was more then willing to trade straight across for my Judge. he got to look at and drive my judge.i told him no deal until i get to drive his truck and to call me back when he gets the fuel pump replaced. this was about 3 years ago and im still waiting for his phone call. i wanted that truck bad. the other two obviously had the s**t beat out of them on a constant basis. no thanks i passed on both of them as well. if it were you guys looking to buy a sy/ty what would you watch out for? how shuld i go about checking these parts (front prop shaft, turbo play...) to see if theyre bad or not? i want one of these trucks because theyre rare, fast, and its somethign diffrent for me and im hoping i wont have to wrench and tune them as much as i do my Judge. i want to get in turn the key drive it/race it and not have to worry is the carb running too rich ? too lean ? hows the timing ? what abotu the a/f ratio ? should i change the metering rods ? jets ? up or down ? dont get me wrong i like these trucks and id be proud to own one but i dont want the wrong one and im lookign for help. a answer that says "these trucks are 15 years old" is somethign that i already know and its not helpfull.
