Re: New member from MO, just bought Syclone 1192

Over the course of the last couple weeks, I had the rear driveshaft balanced and new u-joints installed.
And had the back wheels balanced.

Today, I replaced the spark plug wires.

Good Lord that was a nightmare!
Makes my old V8 Monza's look easy. Son of a .......

I'd bet the ones that were there were the originals.
Packard and numbered.

AND......replaced the turbo to intercooler hose.
Original was in fine shape. I just wanted to try the smoother ACDelco 24145L.
After trimming to fit, it worked great.

Improvement? No idea.
It has to flow better though; much larger ID and worlds smoother internal surface and bend.

Truck is running and driving fantastic.

Had my original radio repaired.
I reinstalled it and it's sounding fantastic!

The shop did a fantastic job so I made a thread with their info (giving praise where praise is due!):

Tracked down the source of my front end squeak-sway bar bushings.
They're in great shape so I put some silicone lube on them and all is quiet.
Now for that pesky squeak in the suspension area. Need assistance for that pursuit.

Otherwise? Truck is doing great.
Had it out running errands yesterday.

Torque strap installed.....

Torque strap installed.....

After reading the absolute hell folks go through replacing failed motor mounts, I decided to be proactive and install some sort of torque limiting strap.

Thanks to Jason at West Fabrications.

That is one VERY heavy duty piece!
That little gem ought to outlast my Sy.

Daughter's first spin in the Sy......

Daughter's first spin in the Sy......

I took my daughter for her first ride in the Sy on Sunday afternoon.

She is so used to the feeling of speed in my 1930 Ford Model A hot rod; the Sy caught her totally by surprise.
I got on the throttle a little, she didn't even flinch.
"Honey, we're going 80". "WHAT? Wow! I had no idea! It's so smooth!".
Whereas, ANY hard acceleration and speed in the old '30 is sensory overload. LOL
And a solid 0-60 was met with, "we're going 60 already?!?".

When we walked in the house, she told my wife, "you've GOT to go for a ride in that thing!".
Followed by, "dad, you'd better not sell that one!".
Awesome. :)

Replaced PCV valves.....

Replaced PCV valves.....

Replaced both PCV valves.
ACDelco's from Sportmachines.
Thanks, guys!

What an improvement.
Cold starts better, idles smoother and highway speeds are incredibly smooth; 65, for example, hardly requires any pedal pressure at all.
The old valves had to be the originals-original part numbers and AC stampings, they looked tired and still rattled but it was a sticky, muffled sound-no positive "click-click" whatsoever.
Only 52,000 miles but 23 years!

Truck just gets better and better.
Grabbed a little throttle a couple times while out-zero problems.

Nice ride! Maybe sometime they will have a KC meet and get together.

Is there a southern Missouri group (or northern Arkansas)?

I'm so much closer to KC now then when I was in Florida, I would love to see a get-together at KCIR like the old days!

KCIR has been gone for a while now. Only 1/4 mile track left is MOKAN on the states boarders about 2.5hrs south of KC.
