New member from MO, just bought Syclone 1192

Hello all,

I've been wanting a Syclone since seeing them at Art Haack Buick/GMC back in 1991 and then one at a dealership while on vacation in Hawaii in 1992!
But back then, $26K plus dealer markup was totally out of the question.

I now own No. 1192.
The only mod I can see at this point is a K&N cone slipped onto the cross tube.
52,000 miles.
Not "perfect" but a very nice driver-exactly what I wanted.
I didn't want to have a museum piece I'd be scared about even opening the garage with.

Many thanks to the SyTy forums community for spurring me along in my pursuit with much invaluable information.

Thanks again and I look forward to talking with you all,
Bill

Welcome to the forum. Good luck with the new vehicle.

Post up some pictures when you have a chance. It looks like you tried but I can't see it.

Aside from the wheels, it looks very nice Dave. Congrats on the purchase.

Hello all,

It's a nice truck that drives fantastic.
I've gotten a LOT of compliments on it in the small amount of driving I've done. :)

It came with the original wheels with very low mile tires. Once I get my hands on the unique lug socket to get the BIG wheels off? The originals will be swapped on and the big boys will be sold.
You feel very single cigarette butt on the road with those miniscule sidewalls.

Scanmaster will be here any day.
Truck runs fantastic but I'm babying it until I get some data.
I've had turbo Regals in the past and have vivid memories (nightmares?) over their finicky ways.
But both had been modded before I got them and I was rowing through other people's "work".
This truck is pretty virgin so maintenance, maintenance, maintenance then hopefully loads of good times behind the wheel.

Thanks for all the kind words.
I'll get the picture problem straightened out asap.

Welcome. Very nice looking truck. I have to agree about the wheels. I have a 92 Ty and it rides soft and smooth. I also have a 92 Blazer and that thing feels every grain of sand. so I know exactly what you mean. These trucks are fun to drive. ENJOY!

Yessir, I did see those pics before pulling the trigger on the truck.

During the disassembly/reassembly process in those pics:
The frame was coated with POR-15.
New body mounts were installed.
The body was VERY well prepped for the black (VERY nice job) that still looks good after.....5 years?
They did a fantastic job with the cladding installation, too.

I didn't pay $16,900 for it.
The seller and I agreed on a number and we closed the auction.

As I said before, it's not a "perfect" truck by any means.
It's a REALLY nice, no-performance-mods driver.
Exactly what I wanted.

Re: New member from MO, just bought Syclone 1192

Thanks, Jimmy.

And to all who've complimented my Sy.

It's definitely a dream come true.
As I said in my first post, I vividly recall seeing them at the dealers when they were new.
Never thought I'd own one!

This thing is an attention magnet!
Took it for it's safety inspection today.
One guy at the shop was positively in awe (he was about my age), knew what it was and he and I talked for a good 10 minutes.
The other guys there had never heard of or seen one and they're my age or older!?
Yesterday, driving it around town, a guy (with family in their sedan) pulled up and started talking at a stoplight. The truck definitely spurred some fond memories for him. Wife could care less. LOL
Even those who don't "know" Syclones, LOVE the "sinister" look and, once they hear the history?
Are fans immediately.
VERY very cool.

Re: New member from MO, just bought Syclone 1192

I figured out the picture posting. :)
Yes, I do have the original wheels with some like new tires on them.
Chances are VERY good that I'll be putting it back to stock ride height sooner than later with the original wheels.

I get a LOT of compliments on the 20's for sure.

The fella I bought it from said the ride quality difference is "night and day", stock to 20's.
I tell folks I "can feel cigarette butts on the road". LOL

I think they're both 25 series? Amazingly small sidewalls.

One thing I noticed is the pinion angle wedges are missing.
Previous owner must have removed them when he lowered it.
I'll be replacing them when it goes to stock ride height.

**Original Pinion Angle Wedges are 8 degree, correct?**
