Re: New member from MO, just bought Syclone 1192

are you getting drive line vibration

I am definitely getting a vibration. Right around 60mph.

I'll order the wedges pronto and get the ball rolling on putting it back stock height again.

Those 20's are cool and OH do they get the looks but they're just not my "thing".

Hi Phil!

Thanks for the number.

You have a Sy?

Re: New member from MO, just bought Syclone 1192

I got the Scanmaster installed and took the truck for a spin.

I've been 1/2 throttle since getting the truck due to having NO idea what was going on "behind the scenes".
The Scanmaster told the truth.
Around 8 lbs. of boost, I had 3.6 degrees knock.
Tune-up time!

I replaced the cap and rotor (both brass Standard Blue Streak (Part No. DR460 and DR323...NICE, by the way), NGK UR5's all around, new WIX fuel filter and checked the timing (it's right at zero, tan wire unplugged).

HOLY smokes!!
I gradually added more and more throttle, watching knock.
About where I found 3.6 before? It spiked at about 1.6 and dropped to zero.
And once I had some serious throttle, I had ZERO or tenths of a degree.
WOW.

The old cap looked original and was FRIED.
The old rotor was "one" with the distributor shaft....what fun that was to remove!
Replacing plugs was an experience, too. Mercy.

The truck ran great before....or so I thought.
Now it's worlds better.

Next on the agenda?
Intercooler pump.
Mine's dead. :(

Man, you got that right!

Part of me wants to write a fairly lengthy post aimed directly at newbies (like me) trying to push the point of that being numero uno project with their newly-acquired Sy/Ty's!

My truck felt fantastic but once the Scanmaster was installed? It told the tale.
My cap and rotor were toast. Plugs looked OLD but their color was spectacular.
The fuel filter looked like it had been there for many many moons.

Besides......all newbies need to experience the enjoyment of getting a cap and rotor out of that engine compartment and doing a plug change. LOL!!
I kept telling myself...."it's gotta be done....it's gotta be done....first time is always the hardest".

I'm so thrilled with the outcome I can hardly contain myself.

No sir, I have not.
Hadn't seen that tip on any of the "to do" lists.

Next on the agenda is a new intercooler pump.
Ordered it yesterday. Hopefully it'll be here for the weekend so I can get it installed.

Pinion angle wedges are on their way, too.
I'm planning to put the truck back to stock ride height and wheels during the wedges installation.

Congratulation and welcome. It seems you are taking good care of that Sy already.

Thanks!

I'm trying to do everything possible to make the truck reliable and ready to enjoy anytime I feel the need. ;)

180 degree thermostat and hot-wired the intercooler pump today.

Incredible improvement in heat control, power delivery and knock is almost totally gone.

Truck keeps getting better and better.

Maybe next Spring we can have a meet?
Looks like the weather is pure garbage for the foreseeable future.
Did I mention I hate Winter?

Thanks for the compliment!

I strive for "original".

When I bought the truck, as you can see in my avatar, it had been lowered properly and the previous owner spent a fortune on those wheels and tires.
Once I heard it came with the original wheels and nothing had been hacked during the drop? It was mine. I knew I could bring it back to stock painlessly.

Only a couple items left on the list of Sy maintenance checklist.

Speakers are next.
The originals are shot. Especially the right side.
I'll be going with original size replacements, no cutting or modding.

I can't say it enough......the Sy/Ty forums have proven absolutely invaluable with both the purchase and maintenance of my Sy.
There hasn't been a question I've had or a problem I've run into that a search on here hasn't produced an answer for.
Many thanks!
