How is this possible?

Re: How is this possible?

Can you cite specific situations where someone (who did have a crap attitude to begin with) was treated like shit? I think you're overstating the problem.

Someone might ask a question, get an honest answer, and realize they've gotten in (with the truck) over their head. That would qualify as thin-skinned and has nothing to do with the treatment they receive here.

We welcome new people all the time so has very little to do with treatment when people leave. Truth is, younger people are buying these trucks and quickly realizing it's no picnic.

(In fact, take a minute and read the newbie section. I think this community goes all out on welcoming new posters)

I deleted pms a long time ago and I'm honestly not wanting to dig through threads to find said posts. I'm simply conveying my observations.

And thinned skin does not mean that at all. What I have seen very recent in a thread is where that exact terminology has been used and its always been in a negative demeanor and because they can't handle "the truth." Maybe we are thinking of different terminology but the same meanings?

I have seen the news section. They are welcomed but don't stay active. Once again, I refer back to my Facebook comment and leave it at that.

I just logged in here a few days ago after being gone 3 years and 2 months. I can't beleive it was that long. I frequented from time to time but never logged in. I still have my sy, but I lost interest on working on it. Slowly I'm getting back into it.
I never did jump to facebook.

Re: How is this possible?

Been here since 2002 . I really appreciate the information available to me. I think the FB group is a good thing, even though I do not use it. I am going to set up a facebook account just for syty. I have seen a lot of people come and go. I have never experienced any mean people on this board. I have seen a lot of know it all ***holes responses to questions. I have also seen a lot of really good help to new people. I have had a lot lot of good experiences and transactions with the "clique" over the years. Which by the way changes, in my opinion .I am just a regular visitor here and appreciate it very much.

Is there an off topic thread on here? Just one thread where we can talk about anything unrelated to cars period. Facebook is just random crap to talk about, maybe have that here too?

Re: How is this possible?

I have been on a lot of car forums ....been into a lot of cars

This forum does have some attitude problems , to deny that is doing this forum a disservice.

It also a lot of good information and good users

All forums have attitude problems. It's only amplified here due to the small number of people that are truly active compared to say a Camaro/Corvette forum where you have quadruple the members and activity being posted daily. Issues around here tend to linger and stay around for much longer due to the low activity.

I can can click daily here and see only 5 new posts in a day. I goto Camaro5 and click and the posts I just saw 5 minutes ago are now on page 3.

Yes. It's called "off topic". At bottom of general discussion index.

Speaking of those who are no longer with us (either voluntary or involuntary), I got a text msg with a link the other day with some info. Need to check and see if it's been posted before, if not, I will post it, since the sender is on permanent time-out.

I asked about a thread, like what you just posted in, he pointed out the off topic forum. Lol

Off topic threads can be posted in the off topic forum. In general.

Sometime "lounge" or other "forums" go rogue and end up being off topic. Sometimes those are moved to the off topic forum, brought back on topic, or closed down. Depends on subject matter and how deep it gets.

Since I started this thread "on topic" about SyTy.net in general, it has yet to stray far from original topic and remains "not" off topic.

On several other forums that I'm on, they have one giant thread called, just as an example, "SyTy off topic". In that thread, there tends to be hundreds/thousands of posts about all kinds of stuff. Instead of making a new thread for each topic, just one thread with 50 topics. Just like the thread on what did you to to your SyTy today and the picture thread.

Our forum format allows a sub forum of off topic so that individual posts can be created under it. I don't see the issue or how this would be seen as a negative? I much rather have searchable off topic titles than dealing with trying to sift through hundreds of pages of BS to find a particular post in the midst of everyone elses random posts.

Besides, the "picture thread" and "what you did today" thread all follows a specific subject matter, not a cluster*ck of information.
