Great Job Matt! How are you keeping the truck straight down the track launching with 6PSI? You must have finally gotten the drive train straightened out....what did that take?

well....1st thing we did was think about me and if i was doin something to make it run left or rite. had to make sure i wasnt turning the wheel expecting it to go left or rite b4 it really does. it has run every which way the last couple of months so we thought it could have been me keepin it from goin straight. planted my elbow on the door to make sure it was the truck runnin wild and not me. the 2nd thing was, dad put sum ET street on the front. unbelieveable! the dang thang left like a rocket and went straight as an arrow. had to steer it 1 time on the 1st run at the end of the track. i know there are a lot of vehicles faster than ours but they cant be any more fun to drive!

ed the boost control is the only thing we adjust. we took ur advice and it has worked great thanx a lot. we didnt even log the runs just changed the ramps and amount of boost. after the 2nd run dad told me the boost wasnt coming in quick enough and he was rite. went 8 off the line to 22 with 1 sec intervals.cool thing is you can feel it change stages kinda like NO2. its cool stuff. dang i gotta get a good video camera

Matt Hoover, :D

Thats a fantastik time and speed, once again... HATS OF FOR U GUYS :D

last year it was Robert pulling down those fast times. And this year is all your´s..

theres only ONE more chance to make a troublefree run for Robert. BUT some bad weather and a major life changing event in Roberts life is to ocure at the same time... ;D

so I predict "no go" (Nova) for this time..

He is loading up for next year so Matt, dont sit down to long now ;D

This season have been the most troublesom year all time long for Robert, and he have fought against it all by him self, with suport from Svenne his friend and work kollege, I have helped in to act like a ballwall bouncing ideas and to try ceeping his spirit up, BUT doing this in sweden is doing all by yourself, you have baerily anyone to turn to, to get some "magic word" do so and so...

Thats life .

thank you a lot! sorry to hear robert is having a hard time with his truck. maybe he will make it to the last race and get to make sum passes. het will get everything together eventually and his truck will be back runnin good b4 you know it!

fortunately for us the tennessee weather will be nice for a couple more months. so we will have several more opportunities to run our truck and maybe better our time. good luck to you guys!

No, the last race for Robert is off, Despite the fact the wether is going to be nice!!!. he feels the stress of finding that gremblin and be sure the truck is race ready in 2 -3 days is to hazardly, this year is (race season) to its end, He wants that gremblin, as bad as he will chase your fast time :D Matt, but the fastest time is for friendly challenge NEXT year..

the gremblin is for KILL as soon as possible...

Good luck with your chase on those low nr time slips...

Best regards Anders.

Re: HOOVER timeslips

sorry to hear that. i think we have a definate advantage bc of the weather. we have a few more months to test and mess with our truck. you guys will definately have to come over next year and run his truck! i think we are going to huntsville, alabama tonite, weather permitting, to an 1/8 mile track doing sum more testing. hope you have better luck in the future.

Re: HOOVER timeslips

Seems like we have narowed the gremblin down to the old orginal electrikal harnes... maybee a broken wire INSIDE the plastic wrap, but as Robert says.. "No wonder if its so, we have abused the harnes everytime the engine or trans is ripped out of the car"

He is focused towards -06 season now, trys to get his picup ready as soon in -06 as possible...

Matt, one Q for U...
Your cage... is it IHRA or NHRA leagal? or bouth?
Q asked so we dont come over to US to race, just to bee banned because our cage is´nt right built...

Anders.

Re: HOOVER timeslips

i want to hear the answer to this one since it doesnt have bars thru the back i dont think its certified at all for 9's.

i just allways figured they were running it at tracks were they bent the rules and officials looked the other way. since if you read the rulebook theres no way that cage would have a cert for 9's. 10 yes but 9's no way.

so matt, how do you guys get away with that?

anders,
one other thing, after the cage is certified you have to get a license to run 9's legally.

Re: HOOVER timeslips

no its not NHRA or IHRA legal. we had the best cage installed that could be installed without the bars goin through the back windows. we have been to huntsville, memphis, KC, bristol, Beech Bend, which are all legitimate tracks, and not 1 person has side anything about our cage. weve never been turned away from runnin our truck at any track. maybe we've just been lucky.

maybe this is showing my ignorance but i didnt know you had to get a cage certified unless you were runnin in the NHRA or IHRA? and i sure as heck didnt know you had to get a licence to run a 9 sec 1/4 mile!!!

if you guys get to come to KC next year i seriously doubt they will say anything about ya'lls cage

matt,

plain and simple YES YOU HAVE BEEN LUCKY!

and yes you have to have a license, chassis cert, battery shutdown switch, transmission shield, flexplate shield (or ultra bell), sfi ballancer, no c clips in axels (you allready fixed this) :) , ft and rear loops, sfi flexplate, neck collar, heavier wieght jacket, pants, gloves, and yeah you gotta have a window net!

click on this link and look at page 109.

everything is listed for whats is required based on et.

as for proper cage you would have to look at the specs to see more details.

Re: HOOVER timeslips

i dont think our track down here are as strict when its not an official event. if its just test n tune helment, long pants. if it runs good then they will stop you on the line and make sure you have cage. they have dun that several times when we were runnin low 10s. they also like a fire suit after you dip below 10.00.

Re: HOOVER timeslips

Matt My Q was just for the fact, Robert will nott risk to take his truck over the sea just to be banned, as he have been over here, the Q is to find a cage that fits inside the truck, is safe, and legal..

We have the same rules as NHRA in sweden and Robert have run the yes to 9.90 but then you get 2 trys and the out you go from that event..

As we speek we have much contact with the tech people and nearly got an OK to skipp the bars to the rear DUE to the ridgid B-pilar post..

I myself is to get a cage in my 12 sec nova, for 2 reason.. (Rules say I dont need even a loop)

# 1 my safety... IF I crash I get hurt no matter its a test and tune or race..
(A-post and no B-post on a 2 gen Nova makes it a shobox in a sec..)

# 2 the rigidy of a cage benefits the chassie in mannya good ways to be left out besides strickly safety reasons :D

Your Pics on your cage have been a great help in the discusion with the officials, I´ll try to have pics of the resulting cage as soon as it is instaled in Robberts truck..

And yes his truck already have the SFI gears thats is required, and loops and .... so on.. its the cage thats the last item.

Re: HOOVER timeslips

I can tell you living in the Kentucky/TN, Indiana region has it's benefits in terms of track tech inspection.

I know one track that just asks what # you want, and you can just carry your tech card up to them, leave car parked in pits.

Then there is another somewhat local track that hasn't seen anybody in the tech station for years. You put your own # on the car that comes from the ticket you get when you pay.

And when I rented Beach Bend, well heck I was the one that got everybody to sign release form and watched someone instruct a car owner how to race while in pass seat running mid 10 passes.

Not that I say getting away with this is SAFE. If you plan to run fast, safety equipment should be a big priority. Sometimes I think NHRA specs though leave a bit to be desired.

Re: HOOVER timeslips

As is in sweden the rules is writhen for the old cars (like mine and older..) where the "build in" safety was a yoke... but to upgrade the safetyrules is a major task...

Where do you draw the line? just a loop is to bee change from 12 sec to 11,50 sec BUT thats aply to My old Nova too....

And I do not want to go that fast.. 11,5@ 120-125 Mph without a loop (I´ll go cage).... if I do a roll in that car I´m dead.. and still in the rules to bee legal to race...without the loop
