That's exactly how mine acted when I lost my #4 plug wire... might be worth taking a multimeter and checking for an open on a wire....

yea i'll let it idle, and pull each wire until i find the bad one.

Don't you have to unplug the IAC when you do this? I thought I remember reading in the service manual that the IAC will compensate and keep idle steady (although it's usually pretty easy to hear when a cylinder isn't firing correctly).

Re: High Idle

the IAC valve i got from the parts store didnt work. My buddy and i went over everything, swapping his parts for mine. Finally swapped throttle bodies, and saw that worked. So i went and bought another IAC, and that fixed it. New part, bad right outta the box.

+ shortly after that, my Ostrich began to die, the truck would run progressively worse after every upload, and i found myself recalibrating tables i did months before. So i sent it back, they said it was fine, but still sent me a new one. Works fine now.

Stock idle is 875 or so, how come you are advocating 1000? Wondered myself if a higher idle might be good.

I had a problem with my idle lopeing so I adjusted it up a bit and it seemed to help. That is why I suggested it. I thought it may be a simple adjustment for him to try.

i'm on $59, everything is adjustable. Idle RPM is an easy adjustment in the computer. I chose 1000, for the cam. its really lopey below 900.
