The red one is already crushed!

One of the members at galant-vr4.com messaged me telling me it was at one of their members wrecking yard.
I pmd him and this was his response.

sorry man your a couple days to late a guy that works for local a tow company got all the cladding as for the rest of it sadly i had to put it down the car was very rusted not much left to save on the underside. not to mention the state wants it crushed as soon as posible. if i ever see one again i let you know

Not sure what all SyTy Parts went down with the ship but it sucks to see this happening for sure!

Re: Cash for Clunkers Sy...SAVED!!!

there is so much misinformation in this thread... i reg'd just to set some people straight.

the drivetrain does not have to be destroyed. the bill was written by a bunch of retarded ****s that dont know anything about cars.

it states that if the drivetrain is not separated it must be destroyed.... so... half a dozen bolts and the engine and trans are separated... drivetrain is safe.

it also states that the engine block must be destroyed, not the entire motor. NHTSA decided that they didnt like congress' definition of "block" so they changed it to "longblock" so heads are out as well; everything else is fair game.

now these dealerships dont have to pour in the silicate solution until they are paid by the govt, a lot of them are not disabling the cars at all, a friend of mine owns some auto recyclers and has bought hundreds of cars that were not disabled as the dealerships had not been paid for the cars.

he's actually having his guys pull the motors, pull all the accessories off for sale then destroying the block and the heads.

also... "the state wanted the car crushed ASAP" in regards to that ty... bullshit! in the bill, the auto recycler that buys the vehicle has 180 days to crush the car... that is SIX MONTHS it can sit in a u-pull-it yard and have parts sold off. "ASAP" is complete crap.

Great save! You guys gonna help him get it running right now?

I hope he keeps in contact so we can help him. Truck had alot of Kenne Bell stuff on it, so it prolly has a kaboom chip in it. Needs some cladding pieces too.

I don't know the guys intentions(sell it/ keep it), so we will wait and see.

Looks like I jumped the gun on this one.

Here is the latest news from the sales manager that was buying the Sy:

Well I am sad to say that I had to give the keys back because the paperwork was cleared before they could back it up, and I asked if we could part it out and was told no. I guess it just wasn’t meant to be. So off to the scrap yard it goes.

Can't say we didn't try...

Hopefully JSM crew can cannibalize it when it hits the scrap pile.

Looks like it's time to get out your tools and a ski mask. You could have the a lot of good parts off that thing in no time.... :)

Honestly, I'm surprised the dealership would care. Slip them a few hundred bucks cash, and go get all the cladding, put regular s10 seats in it and take the Sy seats out, and take all the cladding off. Obviously that doesn't save the whole truck, but you could get the majority of good parts off of it in a couple hours tops. Also grab the tonneau cover, glove box door, owners manuals, airbox/crossover tube, put some steelies on it and keep the stock wheels/tires.

Or go give the sales manager $50 and tell him when the junkyard shows up to tow it away, have him call you and say "Here's the name of the place where it's going to, they just towed it out of here 5 mins ago." That way someone can get a jump on it before some local s-10 kids get their hands on it...

Damn, if that's true that sux. I really hope he gets it stripped before it makes it back to the dealership, time to get a storage shed and just hide it.
