Re: Cam?
you can put a cam on stock heads but there is no reason to. they won't flow no matter what. save up for vortec's and a cam. then you have something.
Re: Non lockup 9/11?
you could try dropping a check ball down the snout of the TCC solenoid to block flow and take it for a drive just to see if you can get it to lock, but it's no way to drive around. you will still need to R&R to fix the issue.
Re: 00001 Syclone
I know where sy #1 is and last I saw it, it was a yard mans work truck that had been beat to death and looked like crap. so, it's valve is not near what you think it might be.
Re: head question
there is only 1 hole in the side of the head. it is the coolant sensor plug. some might have another plug but it will be in the same location as the coolant sensor just right below or above it by an inch.
Re: Question about plastic Vortec valve covers and felpro gaskets
I just have to push them really hard. that gets them to seat properly in the cover. you want it flat before you mount it. I've sometimes used a hammer to seat them.
Re: Vortec head question
if you are not going for a all out over the top build I'd go shaft mount. very cool setup and I like to no adjustment thing. keeps the kiss factor high IMO.
Re: Alky nozzle position?
it's not a problem because the upper IC is NEVER under vacuum and it's more than a few people have mounted in the Upper IC . I would bet almost every single person on here has done it in that location. When you use an alky kit you should always prime the system...
Re: Left side battery box?
I made my own and put it down in the bottom of the drivers side where the charcoal can was. out of the way and in the spot where we need more weight on the nose of a syty.
Re: Quick prop shaft question
there has never been a failure of a gilbert that I know of. that includes several 9 sec trucks. you have to replace the front diff yoke with a gilbert and I'm not sure if that is the case with the other. I use what I know works and has never failed. there are...
Re: Not happy with my 1/4 times
ya thats usually how it goes. as boost and rpm go up(ie load/power), timing goes down.
also make sure your KR isn't at a shift point.
Re: Rebuilt transmission issues (reverse)
sounds to me like you cut a lip seal on the piston in the Rev input drum. whats your line pressure in Rev? that will tell you a lot.
if you also had issues with 1st I'd say you might have issues with your low/rev clutches but you don't so I bet your...
Re: Trans Mount Bolt - Broke
have had it happen several times. drill and tap a new set of threads. quicker and easier than removing the xcase and all that goes with it.
Re: Timing Question... maybe dumb :)
yes, dieal in 24 and you should line up with zero on the balancer. a lot of trucks esp with vortec heads won't idle with 0 timing. I do this all the time and it's quicker and easier to do it this way.
Re: Reflashing A converter
I can have them done for about 150 plus shipping. you should be able to find a place if you live in a large metro area. most large cities have a conv rebuild shop in town.
