I just took another peak under the truck. I'm going to remove the spare tire carrier and cut up the bumper supports on front and back. Then I will remove the 5lbs. gas support frame. I guess the emergency brake set-up is no longer needed as well. Everything is pretty much gone in the engine compartment.

The wheels are stock.

What are you going to actually cut on the bumper supports? Be careful alot of that is structural and you will have your bumpers waving at people as you drive if you cut too much.

Get rid of them stock wheels, some nice 15" would be nice, the prostars will fit as a direct bolt on with a 7.5" backspace on their 10" wheel and are relatively cheap at least when comes to wheels.

Also you can go the route I went... Earl's Pro-lite hose for all your fuel lines not only does it look good but its very light.

But to answer the main question of this thread here would be my guess off the top of my head as to lightest trucks:

Tom Ferrick
Me ???
Hood

The first 3 have chassis work done though, at least I think Mike Lee does, the other two I know for sure.

I figure less stress on the motor, brakes & transmission.

I think the new vettes come with magnesium wheels. This could be another option.

very true, but very expensive. Aren't they 17-18" any weight you save you are probably offsetting with the added rubber for the larger tire.

I just removed that spare tire carrier completely out today....I'll weigh it on Wednesday. I've got a few sticks of chromo tubing left and I was thinking of putting a tube back across where I removed the tire support and possibly doing it to the support between the cab and rear wheels aswell.....anybody done this?!

Sy2730 weighed 3050 at the race track and half a tank of gas.

My first Sy1252 weighed 3550 with half a tank.

I seem to recall that one of the Orlando guys had a truck that was close to 3k if not under.. who was it? Used to have the weight of the truck in his sig for the longest time.

I don't know about the new Vette wheels, but the C5 Magesium wheels weren't that light. I think all 4 wheel C5 Mag are just over 80#'s. The forged thin 5 spoke were only a couple #'s heavier, their are probably other light weigh wheel opiton. The stock wheel aren't that light weight, all 4 of them are probably 110# for the 4 wheels. Jeremy Duncan uses F-body wheel and they are lighter than stock, I would guess he knows the weight difference.

Deluxe-close to same as steel.
We can lighten up the bed if you wanted.

B & G Fiberglass

Hope this helps....

I bought a B&G fiber glass bed and I told them to lighten it up
and it is light . two guys can lift it up .I thank it weights about 75 lb i think

Lastly, for those talking about the bed. Might want to keep some of that weight on the back of a syclone. I know my buddies who have tried fiberglass hatch's on their fox bodies all have gone back to stock setups because they ended up fighting traction problems because of lack of weight over the rear... just food for thought.

I had forgotten how much difference was there, until yesterday. We had put a fiber hatch on my saleen and got very use to that. I was at a buddy's and he needed help replacing the struts OMG...

Ok, so what was done to get it to that weight? Is that with or without driver.

Doesn't do any good to post a weight without the supporting info!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I posted all that was done to it.

AlDustan front coilovers and tie rods, Wilwood discs, No A/C or heat, no radio or speakers, no swaybars, Weld 16" Draglites with BFG Drs on front and ET Streets on rear, no spare or jack, Momo steering wheel, fiberglass cowlhood, removed torsionbar crossmember and one other under the bed....

This was in October 2003 it weighed 3050 at Orlando Speedworld with no driver and 10 gallons of gas

It was 500 pounds lighter than my first Syclone.

Even though i dont have that exact combo , Id like to think with some of that plus what I have my sy is around 3k . Without going too extreme , 2900 shouldnt be out of the question . Good to know

What about the wires for all the stuff you removed, what did you do with that?

I gotta say though that is nice and light and you didn't even have to go extreme.

I am very curious to see where I am at I am out of ideas

Forgot to add Flexaforms and Caltracs to the list.

Actually all the ABS harness and A/C wiring remained. There was Dynamat all over the cab as well, I'm sure there was still alot left to take it below 3k

Oh...ok....I would have never even considered that....lol. Hell, being in texas....I'm having a hard time convincing myself to take out the a/c....and I'm not sure I could totally enjoy my truck without the stereo. Most of my fun and enjoyment happens on cruises and street driving. Obviously just my though. I've been told that I like to drive my projects too much though....lol
