I don't like the remote idea. It's just something else that will get lost or broken..

have to agree with this... with remotes as only means of changing settings it comes down to one more thing that can become lost, broken, and reliant on a battery... at least with having a lock you can stick the key on your key chain with car keys and forget about it..

i gotta agree, as well - remotes are basically a pain in the ass. i dont even use the one for my stereo in the truck.
i very much do like the notion of separate brain box w/ display as its own piece. many more mounting options - mine'd go where my led box is now, in center a/c vent. i'll be first in line if it'll do aldl data monitoring...electroluminescent (blue)...dimmable..larget type...adj contrast...kitchen sink....
