Adam

The precision gt6152e is awesome little turbo!. I ran this turbo on my buick stroker motor into the 6.60's.

It's basically a gt35r with a buick exhaust housing.

With a 4 bolt housing i'm sure the spool up would be better than the buicks exhaust and i had a tight 3k stall convertor.

If you have to afford things on your own, not sell your turbo, how much are you looking to spend? Would a gear change be "reasonable"? Prob a grand, my guess is more than you wanna spend. Would a cut-out be beneficial to you? Just trying to help, prob wasting bandwidth....

The more I think about it, a PTE44 might be the way I want to go. I have a completely stock motor, so the 44 is going to give me a bit faster spool up on the low end. I *might* loose some power on the top end, but seeing how I dont really street race anymore, Im not to worried about it. There is a chance in the future I might want to do more PDX events (racing on a track course), so I still want to have some sort of power curve in in the mid-top range.

Plus with a 44, Id have minimal to retune with Code59. I like the PTE downpipe setup, so if I can stay with it, Id like to do that.

Cut out? Heh... open downpipe FTW ;)

See if there is any information out there about traditional vs ball bearing turbos with respect to spool time. I'm sure there are people here who could offer their experience as well. It's my understanding that the ball bearing will spool much faster than traditional turbos which would really help when coming off the brakes.

I have a pte6131bb that I probably should upgrade but I am not if I want to at this point. Inwould have loved have bought a 6152bb but pte didn't make that with bb. The GN owner say you can use this with a stock TC and I would that it would work on a SyTy stock tc as well. I had 2800 rpm TC and it spooled very quickly.

I have a PTE 44 with a .63 housing. It is a GN 3 bolt turbo as my truck uses the old school 4 bolt to 3 bolt adapter. I believe this is probably the only why to get a .63 housing on a Sy/Ty without using headers setup for a standard T4 housing. I can see why'd youd want this for Auto X as it does light off damn near instantly.

Yup Yup, I want instant fire. They only did the .63 housing for the buicks, the .85 housing was syty specific and was the only sized housing they did for us. Got pics of your setup?

Re: Turbo trade interest

Adam,

How much power are you after?

I would think a GT3076R in a .82AR (or a current SYTY housing, if PTE makes it) would suit your fancy very well. 3076R flows 52lbs of air, and you can use all of the stock lines/fittings on it. A GT3582R will fit the same lines also, and flows 65lbs, but will lag considerably more than a 3076R would.

Unrelated, I had a 8cm TD06H 20G on my last (and final!) Talon, and it was somewhat laggy. Switched to a .63AR 3076R from Forced Performance and the lag was cut in half, and it flowed more air. It's the new vs. old technology that really makes a world of difference. My current turbo waiting for the Typhoon is a Forced Performance Red Billet HTA (60lbs of air) in a 20G 14cm housing, with a turbine that is the same dimensions as a TD06H, but looks more like a newer GT style turbine. I'm curious to see how this one spools.

Hey Darin!

More power is always better, but ultimately I just want more balance with having faster spool on the low end when doing autoX. With the current 2800 stall and 52, the truck is plenty quick in the mid-top range, but feels sluggish to me in the low end. The truck doesnt wake up until 8-10psi. Goal has sorta changed from going as fast as possible to better balanced (handling & power).

BTW, here is the compressor map for the 52:

Ive thought about doing a 2-step, but that may be a bit of overkill and really only useful on the start of the course...and not every course is setup with being able to boost launch out of the gate.

The L35s I have came with the bigger valves, they just need to be drilled and tapped for screw in studs. I know this would probably improve the current setup, plus I know where I can snag a set of 1.5 or 1.6 rockers....but I need to convince myself that cracking open the motor when nothing is wrong with it is a good idea. I dont want/need to create any new unnecessary headaches.

Something just occurred to me that I also need to mess with. My Greddy E-01 electronic boost controller. I can adjust duty cycle and gain with that thing. Hmm.... might have to go burn a tank of gas tonight....
