a stock actuator on a 17c can put out more than 20 psi, so it prolly is just helping you spool a bit faster.
as far as what you do in the future, try an set a goal, if its 12.5 you can get there pretty easy. Right now I'm running L35's and a 412 cam, as well as h beams and forged pistons, but they really arn't doing anything yet....but with that and a broken 20G I ran a 12.5 @ 107 with a 1.79 60 foot only making 14 psi in a full weight ty. also, I am on stock injects and fuel reg.
I think your doing pretty well for what you have, I mean, you could push it and go faster, but I understand where your coming from with trying to keep everything 'comfortable' . If you wen't to a bigger turbo and the heads you could be in the mid 12's easy, and if you push it you could get into the 11's. I recommend running meth, and taking some time this winter to learn the ins and outs of tuning. Once you can tune yourself, and make changes on the spot, you will notice an improvement with your truck.

Everytime I go to the track, I try to make sure it's worth going. Rob and I have countless DM runs and I want to make sure it will be worth the $60 for a trailer and price to race. So far I lost 6 tenths which I'm happy with. Sure I can add more Timing, but for 2 tenths, I say it's not worth going and beating on the truck.
For one thing, I was spinning bad cause the track was cold. I don't really think the boost can go any higher especially in 2nd gear. I have the WG arm pretty stiff and with the helper spring. I have the F71 table pretty high also. Again, I would like for it to be easy to go fast and not have to squeeze every ounce of power outa my setup.
My next goal would be a 12.5. Whether I can do that with my stock turbo, probably, but with doing that efficiently probably not. A nice sized turbo is on the list and will help me with the Heads/Cam eventually. And when I eventually rebuild the trans with a Stall, I'll be ready for the next step.
I hope you guys know where I'm trying to get at. I'm proud of what the truck got. I've been going in stages with stock boost, now high boost before adding parts.

I have no doubt you can run a 12.5 with stock turbo and good track/tires. Best part is you have learned a ton with tuning and should you install a bigger motor, more mods you knowledge will transfer over.

Nice run. Now that you're through the "barrier", the tenths will come off easier.
A set of stickies on lighter rims will give you .3-.4 easy... those 'vette rims/tires are really heavy, and you can probably shave .1 off the 60-foot with some Mickey DRs or the Hoosier DRs.
We got a local guy down to 12.4 with a stock turbo... he had a mild cam and a set of unported L35s, though.
