Tim,

Yes, I have highly considered the idea...just right now, things aren't going as smoothly as I would like. Initial design REALLY isn't completely done yet, it's about 99% done. Just some touch-up things that I am anal about.

I have considered some, and I would like others input as well. I thought of:

storm.syty.net - this would be a no brainer

storm.org - have our own stand alone site.

Ummm...can't think of a lot right now. Just trying to get all of this done. I wish this Mozilla install would install correctly. I can't even get the damn browser to even open! I wanted to use the composer part of the deal to write the site down. But that is a topic by itself. Can anyone say DREAMWEAVER???

Sorry about bring up a old post, but I didn't want 500 posts on the same subject.

Well, after all this time, I CANNOT get Mozilla to install correctly. So it looks like I am just going to have to order DreamWeaver, since this looks like a pretty good software, and I haven't seen too many complaints.

I've reread alot of things on here, and I am going to keep the Angelfire site until I get a host for the new site.

Any new quesstions or concerns???

if you want a host.. I can most likely offer my services for free..
only problems being, I provide no uptime garuntee, and it is a personal machine, if i lose my job, the machine won't be available anymore..

if your interested, let me know..
the northeast site is hosted on it now..

I FINALLY GOT MOZILLA TO INSTALL!!!!!

It led to me having to use XP as a boot disk, delete the existing partitions, and installing XP.

Anyway, I haven't had much time to work on it today. I am looking for a wallpaper now. Dunno what to use right now, but I am up for ideas.

Also, I don't have any imaging software, like Paint Shop Pro, or Adobe PhotoShop. So if any of you could happen to help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

Smaug, I'll take you up on the offer, just need to get some more things done on the webpage befiore I send the first "draft."

Thanks again.

Mozilla? Firefox + Nvu is better anyway.

I currently have some free time available. I'm not a very artsy person, but I can do the HTML stuff if you give me an idea of what sort of stuff you're looking for.

Also, I set up http://storm.invisibill.net to forward to the Angelfire site. I'm currently switching DNS providers, but I've got it entered in both new and old. Once the updates hit, it should work both before and after the actual DNS switch. It's not a real solution, but it's easier to remember and type.

Also, I think I posted this in OT before, but here goes... While it may not be as good as a real paid host, it might be easier or more reliable than going through smaug. No offense to smaug or anything, just that more options is always better.

2) No adult (porn sites) of any kind will be allowed on our service.
3) No warez (sites that contain illegal file downloads) sites will be allowed on our service.
4) No sites exploiting children under the age of 18. Including modeling sites of young children.
5) No sites containing illegal music files (mp3 or other) will be allowed on our service.

No idea how well this place actually works, I just stumbled across a link to them.

As I figured, storm.org is taken. stormsyty.org is available. Any other suggestions?

We can get a domain name for $9 a year, and use free DNS services to forward it to any URL. It wouldn't be anything fancy, but I think it would at the very least make the site easier to find and remember, and look a bit more professional too.

Oh yeah, one more thing... Any thoughts on changing the name from STORM? I'm guessing that a good portion of the people near Detroit aren't in "Rural Michigan". It sounds nice, but it doesn't seem very fitting... If we want to change it, it would be best to do that before we design logos and get domain names and stuff...

MiSTA? Like in Happy Gilmore, "MiSTA MiSTA!"

Michigan Owners of Syclones and Typhoons - MOST

I dunno, my mind's just wandering now...

Some good ideas to consider, Bill. Anyone else like to chime in? The more opinions/discussions we have, I think the better off we are with this type of project.

How much better is Forefox than Mozilla? Or vice versa?

I don't care about the name, I just would like to see it done soon. We don't need it in the winter because the majority of the trucks are in storage. I just would like to see a members rides section, a nice gallery, and a page about the meets.

Does anyone have the "Syclone" logo anywhere, other than black and white? Also could use the Sonoma GT logo too.

To give you MI guys a update, the site is coming along. Learning this HTML language is quite confusing and time consuming. I am in the process of getting all the logos, background, pics, etc.

I still need pictures of your trucks. If you have pics of your truck, please submit them to me. I am going to be putting them on floppy disks for storage until I get a web hosting provider to upload the pictures.

Dead thread revival service!

FYI, Mozilla is an internet suite. It includes a browser, email client, editor, and a calendar. Firefox is just the browser part. Thunderbird is just the email part. NVu is just the editor part.

For the most part Firefox + Thunderbird + NVu is exactly the same as the suite. However, you're only loading the program you need at the time, instead of the whole huge program for just one task. The separate programs are the way Mozilla (the group) is taking the project. Mozilla Suite will eventually be killed off and replaced with the separate programs bundled together.

I also have several different version of the Syclone logo. I have the huge black and white one, plus a copy of it with black simply replaced with red. I have another one saved that I think is the same image, just resized down a bit. I have a pretty low quality one in red with a black outline. I have a red one with a white "shadow" on a black background. I also have a pretty high res Typhoon logo in gold with a black outline too. They're just random ones I've found over the years. They're pretty big so I don't have them online at the moment, but I do have them available.

The GIMP is a free, open source image editing program.
The GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages.

It may not be up to par with Photoshop for everything, but it'll probably do everything you need, and the price is a whole lot better. =)

Lets set a goal here guys. I think this site would help storm out tremendously. I have an updated list of Sy Ty email address's. We need our own domain and should model the Michigan Syty group off of the Northeast Chapter and Mofo.

I am not good with websites but I know some of you are Visibill, Epix, and I know some other people are tooo....Lets get this done to better the Michigan chapter!

Ok, I started over from scratch. http://mista.invisibill.net/ That's a free host I have that will expire after a while, so it won't work as the permanent home, but it does give us a place to get things set up and tested.

There's almost no content. I made a member list based on names on the board and the Sportmachines registry, and uploaded my pics from GLG01 and WDC01. Just to give something to look at. There's absolutely no styling yet.

But it's a start...

Wow, I really like the lookes of that so far.....it keeps the nastolgic simple look. With some polishing, thats all we would need. Maybe add a forum, and we can add some more pictures, I have.

Who could we have host it? How much for our own domain name?
