I installed my Belltech, QA1 Coilover shocks & Aluminum Rear drums. The Belltech were installed with the stock shims & overlaod spring removed. The springs were 20# lighter than stock.

Re: Rear Suspension Upgrades on my Sy.

The QA1 Coilover shock & springs were 6 lbs heavier than stock Bilsteins. The aluminum bodied QA1 shocks are lighter than the Bilsteins but I never weighted them. My stock ride height started at (driver/passenger) 30.5"/30.25" After this they were at 28"/28.50" I do have a full tank of gas with the driverside mounted tank. I will probably raise it up a tad just to be on he safe side when I doing my testing. I would hoping for a 1.5" drop, but I would be even happier with 2" as well. So the ride height surprised me a little.

I also install aluminum drums, they end up being 11#'s lighter than stock. So that puts me 25# of weight loss. It will probably end up being around 10#'s after I add the Belltech sway bar. I had an Addco, but it hit the lowering springs, it was 12#'s.

whos battery hold down is that?

Its mine. It was made from angle iron welded together. Its two peices, two almost squares to sandwich the battery. The upper frame is bolted to the frame where the spare tire goes. The upper and lower have 4 tab on the where the bolt go are sandwiched together. It really rusty now though. I will probably pull it off next year and clean it up or remake it.

Speaking of rust the rear axle, shock mounts/bolts and driveshaft make my truck look like a rust bucket.

3/4 of the way through a tranny rebuild. I initially will be using the stock transmission to tune my truck though. I don't want to be trouble shooting the engine and transmission since this is my first tranny I have done.

They should last a long time assume you don't score the metal inside from running the shoes to metal. The aluminum drum have steel inserts, so they should wear just like the steel ones

Can I see the side shot the truck w/o overlaod spring?

Its going to be awhile before I will do that. I don't have room to push the truck far enough out from single width portion of the garage with out moving a bunch of parts and equipment (and I would have to put everything back)
