They should last a long time assume you don't score the metal inside from running the shoes to metal. The aluminum drum have steel inserts, so they should wear just like the steel ones

... SWEET

btw.: did a quick search on ebay, but no aluminium drums - can you please help me out ... ??

TIA,pat.

The one that fit our rear end are usually advertised 80's F-body, G-body or S-10. Their are couple of set on their right now.

I bought mine from bigboost1986 and he seems to have nicer sets of them. He doesn't have any FS right now but he regular has them. Some of the set look like they have been in junkyard. I forget what the spec is for how material is needed before they are junk, but for one time sellers you probably should know asked them.

Re: Rear Suspension Upgrades on my Sy.

To follow up on an old post. I finally got around to installing my BellTech rear sway. (I had an Addco when I started this, but it interfered with the lowering springs) The Sway bar and hardware weighed 17#'s. I left off the gas tank brace (or whatever its supose to be, I have a feeling its more for offroading) which was 2#'s (net of 15#'s gained). The total weight loss was 10# for the rear suspension and aluminum drums or basically the suspension was a wash and the weight loss is from the aluminum drums.
