PIONEER stereos

So Ive had a total of three (3) Pioneer stereos since 1998. The fist one was in my Vette. It is now in my work truck and still going strong. Got the second one in 01. It was originally in the Vette but then transfered it to the TY. That stereo did take a dump on me so I got another one in 05. It is still in the TY. 3 things all my Pioneer stereos have had in common; 1. they all have had great sound quality and great adjustability. 2. they all had the best anti skip quality Ive ever even experienced in ANY stereo. 3. THE CD'S ALWAYS GET STUCK IN THEM!!!!!!!!!!!! :rant: :rant: What is the deal with this? If htey dont get stuck they just come out barely enough to my finger nails on the edge and maybe pull the damn thing out. I make sure I burn full CD's so I wont be tempted to frequently change them. I also, keep my ALDL jumper in my console to grab it out of there but that scratches my CD's. One time I thought the fuzzy thing at the opening was causing it so I took it off and it did absolutely nothing for me. Anyone else have this problem? How can you fix it?

I have a P8MP and a DEH-8400 in both of my daily drivers and they had the same problem. I took them to a local Pioneer authorized guy and he adjusted the ejection mechanisms for me. One of them was new enough that it was free, and the other was ~35 bucks.

A couple of mine did that, have no clue why. My Pioneer Navi Unit I haven't been so lucky yet, so I'm crossing my fingers. lol.

This is wierd to me.. I have owned so far 4 pioneer head units and never had this happen to me.... Now when I finish putting my truck back together, I bet it will do it then....:rotf:

Yeah, you have to remove the chassis guard and go from there.

In my experience this happens if the radio housing is torqued at all in the opening. Easy to test, just undo the screws holding the radio in and see if it ejects cleanly then. Sometimes I have to shim the bracket behind a screw or two a little bit with a small washer and it solves the problem. I've also had this problem with some Blaupunkt models.

I have the DEH-P77 in my Typhoon since 2001 it works perfectly still. There was a different Pioneer in the truck when I boughtit, same 1 1/2 DIN size and it played CD's perfectly and it was probably three years old when I took it out of the truck.

I've had problems with my Pioneer in my Saturn. Sometimes the cd gets stuck if it has a label on it. Sometimes it gets stuck with no label. I just use a little clip and grab the edge of the cd and pull it out. It's annoying, but it doesn't happen all the time. POS Pioneer. My truck had a clarion, but will get an alpine soon.

Just spoke with a guy here at work who has had a lot of them apart. Seems that some of the Pioneer units use rubber rollers to eject the discs, and some use plastic rollers. The ones with plastic rollers seem to cause the most problems... they get dirty, or get oil on them, then they won't pick up and push the CD's out
Also, if the cage that mounts the radio isn't secured tight (ears bent all the way against the mounting kit), it causes the faceplate to support the radio, distorting the faceplate, and this can cause the discs to get stuck.

.... just a few things to check.

no Ipods for me. I tend to break anything with moving parts. like my SY. :rotf:
DVD's will be the thing of the past soon to. Just saw a very interesting new toy a local company is working on.

Shit!!! it took me ten years to stop buying tapes and start buying CD's. Im sure I have atleast 5 to go before I touch an IPOD or MP3. :lol:

That's prime buying country then, by the time your ready to purchase something everyone will have moved on to the next new big thing and you can get their hand-me-downs for cheap :rotf:

My thoguths exactly. I remember when CD's were making it big in the early 90's I told all my friends, Those things are so stupid. I hate em, they skip, theyre big and just plain dumb. But then I got my first CD indash (Pioneer) as a Bday present and I started buying CD's. Then about a year later in 00 I got me a computer and figured out you can download music on the internet, I was really hooked. But one thing I never did get...why didnt mini discs ever make it big?

Ok looks like this thread is slightly off topic so I have a question about the Pioneer 1.5 din's. Are any of them able to read / play CD-R or MP3 burned disks? I was told no but wouldlike to be sure.
