They have some sort of seal they state:" nitrile bead around each port opening" whatever that is. But is there more material or not I don't know. And I hope to never have to remove another intake manifold to find out. But chances are that I will. As often as I change things around on my truck.

Mocked up the intake gaskets, looked good so I sealed it in place with the micro tube of rtv provided. Went ahead and bought a " caulk gun " size tube of rtv to seal the front and rear engine walls. Lowered intake down placed bolts in the locations waited a little while and tq them down.. Waited longer and tq to spec. Just finished up this little tid-bit for the day.

Going go jump back to the valve adjustment again and try to re-do that. Something wasn't right after I fired it back up last time. There was a noise from the one side so on top of the coolant bellowing into a port I just shut it right down knowing there was problems last time. Hoping for better results this time.

I guess I will check mine. I ran a set before when I changed my lifters and never noticed them being loose when I took off the intake, but I only ran about a summer. It ended up being bearings so I decided to rebuilt everything and now have about 2500 miles on the new set. They are not like the perma torque head gaskets I have for my ford. Them were more paper. These seem to be almost more metal with some sort of coating.

I second this. I checked mine after a couple months of installing them and they were all fairly "loose."

I did run the bead about 1/2 inch from China wall up on to gasket surface.


Did not run truck yet. I let the rtv sit/set for a out 1 hr. Before I started the tq sequence. It says it takes 24 hours to dry... I am also trying to re do the valve adjustments before any start up. I am also eating for a lower plenum gasket.

After its all back together hopefully I can put a few heat cycles on it and re tq.:tup:

With hindsight, you would have been better to adjust the valves with the intake off. You would have been able to determine exactly where the lifters were in relation to the cam lobe/base circle and more importantly, exactly when you were at '0' lifter pre load.
Everyday is a learning day.
Hope it goes OK.

Instead of the making a new threw figured I'd bump this. I can't clarify which gaskets to use for my stock motor typhoon. Is it the fel pro 1202 or a gasket for the lb4 z motor Felpro MS93346 or Vic R MS15373 . Rock auto has a magmum m18094 gasket set for our trucks but idk if that would work good.

I think the magnum is for the l35 heads. I was *supposed* to get them for my setup but never did.

I haven't heard of a lot of people using the magnum, but they look a lot like the factory type of gasket. The factory had a little more reinforcement around the bolt holes. I would be tempted myself if I were to try something different.

Why would they offer a set made for a typhoon with different heads?? Doesnt make sense. Can anyone clarify??

The 93 show L35 heads.I have read some may have had them, but I am not sure. LB4(stock) was the other.

L35 have little notches on top of the port, i think to clear the cpi injectors.
