Jimmy, Don't be gay like usually. The only reason you post on here is for attention your not getting from your man :)

TNPhoon, I am always game. That's my home track. I have a few others locally with turbo cars that test there and rent the track from time to time. I will ask if any of them are interested on that Saturday. I will let you know Monday evening.

Well that's a bummer. I had the time off, the family was going to come with. We had a caravan of 4+ sytyers coming with I know we would have had a good time. This was going to be my first Nats I have heard a lot about them. Well that's enough about my sadness. :( I would like to thank the people that made an effort to try to get this going I can't imagine how upset you must be to put all the time in to do this and have to cancel it. I will try to make it to Carlisle and hope to see you guys there.

Sad to hear, but understandable. This isn't field of dreams, don't waste anymore time if the people simply are not there.

But it really is a shame to have something like this happen though. Because the people that are needed to get stuff done, that make up the current committee, now have a bad taste in their mouth. Making future events less of a possibility, or just puts more doubt into their minds. Without new people stepping up and helping plan/take the burden/help fund large events, it really does just suck for the SyTY wold.

Smaller more region based events are going to play a bigger part in the future. They need to be somewhat planed out months in advance and posted so everyone and anyone that does want to make the drive to wherever it may be, can if they choose. As well as be open to more trucks in general as well. More people need to see SyTys and there are a lot of trucks now days that are just as fast and can provide some fun competition. In my opinion.

Also, I have scrolled through the Facebook page and haven't seen the post saying Nats is cancelled. I have seen people post about it being cancelled though. Facebook sucks as far as a place to get a real conversation going as a lot of people simply miss it or it doesn't even pop up on their feed unless they go looking for it in the group. Social media killed forums, and social media sucks for the most part.

Morgan, and everyone that is on the current committee. Thank you so much for trying to make this even possible. You guys really do a lot for this small group of people/owners. I'm not sure who funded the deposit for the track rental but if you guys just end up eating that $5K, you should setup a paypal/donate account and see if any members will donate to help you guys recoup that money lost. I could help out a little and I'm sure some other owners would too, at least I hope so.

I understand, too, but am still disappointed. I've been to almost every Nats and they've all been fun. Don't know which year was my favorite. Bowling Green when the tech session was held in the Corvette Museum was special. So was Colorado, even though I broke a crankshaft on the way home. KC had many good ones, too, and great tech sessions. Thanks to everyone on this committee for trying. If we need to take a break, OK....Maybe one of the regional meets will become the next Nats.

Thats to bad. I was looking forward to the event. But if there is not enough interest. Then it make no sense to try and put it on. I am sorry for you all that spent so much of your time trying to make this happen and then it being cancelled.

If the track thing happens. Count me in Nate.

This was probably the best move. I really appreciate the efforts that the Nats Committee put toward trying to make this happen. I know it must be a lot of work, and is a thankless job that you don't get paid for. Thanks again.

P.S. Don't give up on syty's yet.

x2.

It is disappointing to cancel. But it's equally disappointing to sit back and see the current state of this community.

Local events, at least here in the east, are still strong and well-attended. A slight down tick each year, but between Carlisle and the fall meet at Frank's, a good group (including a core group of longtimers, now friends) keep the flame alive.

I really hope to see a change someday and see the community turn back around. I'm not the only person who had made some close friends from owning these stupid trucks. I'm actually working on a SyTy project for the community. A few handful of you are already are seeing it. My goal is to hopefully reignite the flame that I think this community has lost.

I'm disappointment. I handle the event logistics for my company and I know there are endless hours that go into setting up an event like this. Certain commitment milestones in the process have to be met, and this time they weren't. I sincerely appreciate the effort that the committee put forward to plan this event, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

I look forward to any and all future events.

Not much to say that's already been said.
I've been in the garage every weekend for the past 2 months working on my truck and using Nats for my motivation.
This really sucks but seeing interest levels it's not a surprise.
Oh well. I guess I'll work on the yard instead today.

I also planned to attend but never got around to registering. I have always been a terrible procrastinator. I do totally understand as well though. I look forward to us being able to turn this problem with interest around for future meets.

Like everyone else has said I also want to thank all involved in trying to make nats happen. I appreciate all the hours spent trying to make this happen.....Thank you!

Same here, I bought new tires for my Silverado, new tires for my trailer, was planning on replacing a lot of the suspension parts on it too, I started working on my 92 Ty and planned on getting back on one of my 93's so I had a chance to get 1 of 2 trucks at least drivable even if not street legal so I could race.... but I ended up putting up a new fence, mowing my lawn and taking down an old fence in the middle of my yard this weekend. Not even sure if Carlisle will happen for me this year, but we'll see.

So Im going to focus on this.... and do a little daydreaming for a moment.

What IF.... all the groups that do the local events could work together (a representative from each group would be best) and maybe figure out collectively a good date to help do a future "nationals"?

My opinion and my viewpoint (feel free to disagree) is that sometimes these little regional events and meets take away a portion of people from being able to attend others due to time off, expenses, etc. Some people consider themselves lucky to get the truck out of the garage just once to a meet and plan their schedule around it.

Maybe if we worked together as a group and had representation of our regional truck clubs, we could better establish a time frame to bring the biggest attendance. Yeah.....sounds like we kinda sorta already do this......but honestly, we also dont with just doing polls and trying to dodge already scheduled events.

Im not saying regional events shouldn't happen, but maybe if we reverse the idea of trying to schedule a "national" event around regional events and instead schedule regional events around a "national" event, I wonder if there would be a difference on interest and attendance numbers.

Something to think about.

bummer, but totally understood.

I'm part of the problem as I didn't register, i would also just be flying in as my truck hasn't been driven much since the last nats.

Thanks for the effort guys, it is as always appreciated, it just isn't said enough.

Not sure where you are going with this but ya mabie we should cancel our meet too!! We had no effect on nats last year or this year! All the smaller meets are where the concentration of participants are or the wouldn't exist

You missed my point Gary.

I didn't say cancel any regional meet plain and clear in my post.

My point was, that instead of being so goddamn cliquish with our groups, maybe if we ALL worked together and communicated better (FAST, MAST, NASTE, etc) and sit down and say....alright, lets help plan a national event that works for all parties FIRST...... then schedule our own regional stuff.....MAYBE there could be a better focus on attendance to pull off a National event.

Right now, all the regional groups quickly plan their events and people schedule for the time to go to them. That basically means that anything National has to get planned around those regional events as to not "step on toes" for lack of a better term. Im asking to take that formula and reverse it. Schedule a Nats first.....then plan regional events around it.

Im not asking for regional groups to cancel anything. But if we (each region) maybe focused on the big picture of collectively having a huge event, we could pull it off like the early years of Nationals where having 100 trucks and 200-300 people was to be expected. At this very moment, we didn't even get near 50 trucks let alone 200 people....

You want my personal viewpoint? Id gladly cancel all the FL meets if it meant that I could get 25-30 extra trucks to goto a National event. Why? Cause Id rather have one huge meet with EVERYONE (which included my local crew) hanging out together standing in a parking lot sea of SyTys over doing a local meetup. I love my local crew. I like hanging out with them. To me it would be even better to hang out with my local crew plus every other person across the US at the same time though. Strength in numbers is the way I see it.

Again, Im not asking anyone to cancel anything. I just wanted to throw out an idea or try different formula for the chance that something is planned in the future.
