Something funny going on here, as I am 99% sure Hardman tried to do a group buy with original supplier and price was not a big enough savings to justify. I need to check for sure but something is fishy.

Either way we have proceeded to offer shafts for 50% of what they were offered for before, and brought the price competitive. This helps syty world no matter how you look at it.

No skin off my back, glad to see planataries are cheaper also. I am 100% confident our shafts will be as good or better for the same price within a few bucks. So everybody benefits.

Prototype shaft was installed this weekend. Everything was a nice fit. The rest of the inputshaft production will start this week.

Just to add, and I will get some pictures up tomorrow.

The shop already has all the material, should go quickly now as they wanted to confirm these fit like a glove before 30 were machined. Test shaft has 100+ miles on it already.

If I had that translation myself life would be much easier.

I can tell you that we have paid them $5k so far, and Hardman is stopping by checking on them weekly.

I wish suppliers were easy to track and always correct. At work we just discovered some castings we were buying, machining, etc are all cracked. Only holding up 3/4 of a million dollars in product due out in a few days, as well as us having to recall 1/2 million in product already sent out.

O yea and the supplier certified these castings to be free of cracks from day 1. Big Big mess.

I will see hardman saturday and get another firm update, but it should be able to finish next month for sure being thats only a week away.

Talked to machine shop yesterday, shafts are going to first heat treat monday. I sent Jeff a pic of the current progress. Should be posted this weekend.

So they don't have shelfs there? Kind of a accident waiting to happen standing them all up ready to fall into each other.Or did you just pull them out of the cardboard box? At least they are gettting closer to the "ready" status.

prior to heat treat no surface is final machined, so even if one fell that surface will be machined again.

Heat treating not only changed hardness and strength, but sizes change also. So you have to rough machine, then final machine after heat treat.

Here is an update on the shafts:

Mike,

These are this morning...they got back from the first heat treat step (all
rusty). The other pic shows them after they have been finish turned, first
end.

We will begin cutting teeth today or tomorrow.

Note the final heat treat will be done in a vacuum furnace, so there will be
no rust or oxidation from that process.
