drained fluid and checked pan, clear as clear can be. i strained the fluid, and nothing. so i'll get some Lubeguard and see if that quiets it.

there are a couple large local events in Sept. that i want to attend, so i wont pull the converter till winter.

i put some additive in, and didnt help.

there's a big show next Sunday that i wanna make. So after that i'm gonna pull the converter out again (got it down to a science). And send it back to the shop, and have the guy test it on the converter dyno.

I'm pondering whether i should have him take the rpm down a little.

the RPMs stall right at 3400, and the boost goes to 5psi, but if i hold it the RPMs go up and the boost climbs. Pretty much 100rpm for every 1 psi of boost. Yesterday i was launching at 10psi, when i looked at the tach, it was about 4200rpms. Which i feel is too high. I dont have to sit on the converter for long, it spools up quick, but i dont like the high RPMs.

I tried leaning it out, so it would spool the 10psi, without the rise in RPMs. But it cause it to spool slower. So this week i'm gonna richen it up, and see if i can get it to spool to 10psi at 3400.

Should i think about bumping the stall RPMs down to like 3k? or leave it at 3400?

BTW, again, the stock drum brakes hold the 10psi, 4200rpm launches.

If the noise is not hurting anything, why not make another trip to the track and/or a dyno graph?

Without that data it makes it hard to know which way you should go.

yea, theres another 1/8th mile opportunity on Friday. chance of rain. i'll try to make it out.


I think the solution to this problem, is the 2-step. but i'll try to tune it out as much as possible before buying one.

8.27 @ 82.5. 3 consistent runs. 1.8 60foot.

Launching at 4-5psi 3400rpms.

i tried launching at 10psi 4k, but just spun the tires through 1st gear.

Trans is shifting at 5400, where it should. and a shift RPMs drop to 4600 and climb again.

Cam makes enormous power above 5000rpms. :tup:

20psi max, 11.2 AFRs. I started the night running 11.7 AFRs, then went richer, and it pickedup a ton.

Still no meth, stock suspension, stock brakes, street tires

i was kinda hoping tHE would be faster then this, but oh well. Something's wrong somewhere i just gotta find it.

so I'd agree with Jeff that you're in the 13 flat area.

Not to restate everyone else posted, my Sy ran 12.9's with those 1/8 miles times.

Once you find the problem, your Sy is going to be a beast. It will be pretty obvious by the seat your pants and the grim on your face once its running 11 and faster :D Welcome to the SyTy Initiation of getting your truck to run properly.

If you take your 1/8th mile time and multiply for 1.58 that works out for the syty VERY close.

It will be off if the launch is bad, but you are making a lot of power. Otherwise with many runs in both, that # will get you very close.

seems in the mid-range my AFRs dont really impact the performance much, cause i go from 5psi to 20psi in a half second, so all those AFRs dont make a difference.

but changing the high boost AFRs .50 richer, made a difference i could definetly feel.

lol, still the converted "pauses" at 3400, on its way to redline when i'm launching. gonna pull it next weekend, and have it checked.

DRs and battle bars coming this winter.

getting better.

7.93 @ 86.0mph

1.77 60' launching at 3400 7psi.

track prep is always poor at the track, but hey, $10 for 6 hours of TNT, i cant complain.

I spun bad all through 1st gear. then got traction in 2nd.


same setup as before, i've had the converter rebuild tighter, and added some timing. regular radial tires at 40psi pressure. 18psi full boost.

i wanted a good slip before i put on the meth and DRs this winter

i didnt bring an air tank with me. plus it was more of a fun day for me & friends.

i'm gonna check the local 1/4 mile track schedule, see if there's a TNT coming up. I'll drop the tire pressure, turn up the boost to 22psi, and see what it can do.
