Looking great!!! You should also replace the stock steering shaft. You will hate the rag joint later... I have some replacement steering shafts if you need one...

Hey bro, I just seen this post. If you need any help let me know. Yes I did try the 6.0 manifolds backwards and they did not fit because of the flange. if you do like you said (cut the flange and weild some v-bands on there that should work fine) you could alway move the steering shaft over alittle bit to clear. the manifolds where touching the steering shaft aswell. If you need another oil pan, I have 3 sitting in the garage. Good luck. you seam to have more time than I have. who are you going to have tune it? I use Rick at synergy. He has a stock 5.3 (block and pistons) pushing 814hp 800+tq. you will see his post on ls1tech and performancetrucks, net. The key is tuning to make these stock motors live. I also had my stock block 5.3 pushing 680hp 780tq. PM me if you want to come by and check out my progress. Or want to check your mockup. I have truck manifolds and my motor is sitting in the truck. you could check your clearences if needed...

+1 for Rick @ Synergy, I had him redo the trans in my vette and tune it, it made another 25hp with no mods. He also tuned my friends blown vette. The man definitely knows his stuff.

Good luck on the build, very cool.

I'm gonna put up some additional instructions for that kit. You can ONLY do them as a KIT. I don't want others thinking they can do them when the link goes up.

Pick up a jeep steering shaft out of any salvage yard. They go for $8-$10. Works perfectly. :)

Re: My budget LQ4/4L80E build!

there are two local tuners that i hear are really good. i will have one throw a 60lb 2bar speed density tune on the ecm so i know it will start then i will tow the truck there and have them dyno tune it.

It's just a six

i would but i know absolutely nothing about tuning. Id be too afraid to screw something up. And for the $500 it cost to buy hp tuners i will just pay for a pro to tune the truck.
