Where to start with Performance Upgrades?
91 Syclone pretty sure all stock as I know
If you know my story the trans job is still in progress
But I'm curious and wanted to know where to start with performance upgrades and just upgrades that are just better for the for regular driving and such
I plan on next summer for her to be my Daily Driver for a little while

What I've done with it so far
I've already replaced the plugs back to (Factory) style plugs
Changed the oil
Gonna order some wires any recommendations?
Bought a new cap also
I've bought some new rotors and some awesome brake pads for it lol
Painted the calipers red lol
Now it's time for upgrades to start off with easy built ons and then go to some major upgrades but that's not time yet but soon:)

Leave it stock....imo....The more you mod ...The worse it can get...

you want to replace the vacuum line stuff as well. check if your intercooler is working.

if truck runs good than. get a adj. FP reg. a chip and a 3 bar map and a new FP

yeah pretty much do the regular maintenance, then 3 bar map, chip, and AFPR will yield the best results if you don't want to pull your hair out, once you step past there is when headaches usualy beging to start

Basic stuff though. Tuneup including timing, wires (available from vendors here), Vacuum line replacement kit, full time IC pump mod (or it will come with the chip.).

Adjustable fuel pres reg is good but it won't pass the visual on smog. Maybe gauges? Factory gauges are NFG.

Keep going and the road has no end...:roll: But it sure can be fun.

Add a rear sway-bar. Well worth it. Hot-wire the IC pump. Get a larger IC pump. Get a boost gauge because ours are not accurate. Wide-band o2 sensor. External Tranny cooler w/ gauge. The edelbrock water pump is a good improvement. My thoughts are the three things that kill these trucks the fastest are : Theft (get a kill switch/alarm), Fire (carry fire extinguisher), and ABS failure (remove abs). just my .02

how do i check if the intercooler is working?
ill be pulling out the abs fuse
IC pump is that intercooler pump?
ill pick up a boost gauge how do u install them?
what is a 3 bar map and AFPR?
sorry im a newbie... lol

Stock injectors are marginal/old. Upgrade to 42 # since you are getting new chip. K&N crap = less filtering ability = ring/cylinder wear if you live in a dusty place. Thermostat must match your chip-180° is as low as I would go. Turbocharger is hardly adequate for the size of the engine. There are different wheels you can use to rebuild it and make more efficient. Your revamped transmission should take the added power. Keep an eye on ignition components often. Enjoy!

SELL THAT POS!! Don't put any more $ into it. Buy an old Tundra and save up your (our $)

I'm not selling the truck it's staying with me lol if I sold it I could never get another one
I'll be my DD in the summer and I'll leave it stock if it came down to being to much money for upgrades lol

These truck aren't the best daily drivers; old design that was already aging when new. (First gens were from 82-93). Even when when everything is working they are crude conpare to today's vehicles.

My truck ran much better on an Ultimate chip compared to stock. I would do all the reliability mods and get the truck running good on a scan tool. Once you get that running 100%, get a 3 bar map sensor and chip like turbotweak. On pump gas it should run high 12's on pump gas with better gas mid 12's. I would call it done

Can I run this truck on 110 octane??

turbotweak (vendor marketplace). Get a nice injector/chip combo that will have a "race fuel" option on the chip. Plus he makes the scanmaster.
