I totally agree.

Mine was getting around 10 last year.

I do have a couple extra cylinders and very little driving is done just cruising. 84# injectors also and the tune isn't fully dialed in yet.

I think it goes through 1/4 gallon per 1/4 mile also....

Best Milage i got was when i first got the truck back in 03 and got 23mpg on the way back from new mexico. The truck was totally stock though.

Now that the truck is far far from stock. it gets about 10-13 mpg that is about it.

Thanks for all the help. When it gets here I am for sure going to check all the plugs/wires/cap/button and air filter. If that doesnt help ,off to the proffesionals or anyone in L.A. that could help?

This will not help you much being I have a Syclone If you have the tools with you on the road, I would change the air filter, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, and the O2 sensor. The saving between Oklahoma City and here will save you alot of money. I did this stuff when I first got my truck and the MPG went up to 21.5 on the HWY and 15 in the city. Later on I put a MSD6A on and HWY is now 25 MPG, 17 MPG city, 21 Combine. There are a few other changes that I have made but a fresh tune up help the most.

so my brother stopped at a gmc dealership in elk city, TX and they concluded that the reason the gas mileage was so bad was because of a faulty thermostat. It was telling the engine that it was cold the whole time so it was dumping in gas and the turbo was kicking in at weird times. My brother said that at the dealership after they put in the new thermostat two guys that worked there took it for a test drive and the driver that drove it off the lot came back as a passenger and they both had huge grins on their faces and said they have never driven one before . the mileage still isnt great but as soon as it gets here today I am giving it a major tune up. Thanks for all the help

From what I've read on this site it's amazing you found a GMC dealer that knew what a Typhoon was, let alone knew how to service one!

ok update


i drove my truck to the beach and back over the weekend. it was 207 miles one way all highway except for maybe 20 miles and the truck got 18.4 MPG :lol: i used the cruise set @ 75 mph pretty much all the way. Windows were down and the shitty stock radio was playing as loud as it could play without distortion :rant:.
