What idle RPM w/larger injectors?

It's just a six

Hey guys,

I will be installing larger injectors someday.

I was told that if I would go too large say 75 LB injectors the engine would not idle down to say 800 RPM.

Is there a problem when upsizing injectors & not being able to idle @ a lower RPM?

Just wondering about you guys that run 60 lb,75 lb,96 lb,120 LB injectors, does your engine have to idle @ say 1200 RPM or higher?

Thanks:tup:

Re: What idle RPM w/larger injectors?

Right now I am running 60 lb injectors. I didn't have to adjust my idle any higher. I dont know for sure but it was my understanding that larger injectors were just able to flow more fuel. But the tune was what determined how much they flowed at a certain rpm. I am sure the tuner folks will post and let you know for sure.

Re: What idle RPM w/larger injectors?

Over my Typhonn ownerships and many builds i have had stock, 33, 50, 75, 84, 96, and 120# injectors, All my builds idled between 750 and 1,000 rpms. Only my larger cams needed to go to 950 -1,000 rpms. I never believed on a reason to over size a throttle body on a boosted application so I didn't have to deal with trying to set a decent idle with an oversized TB.

Idle rpm has to do mostly with cam selection.

I had one motor setup with 75# injectors that would idle at 650 then the next cam I had to bump the idle to 900 with the same injectors and some 96#ers.

So fuel inejctor size isnt the issue its cam and motor combo
